The thing I love about blogging is the platform for opinion it offers – and opinions are like names – everyone has one! You don’t have to agree with mine and vice versa! And, because I paid for this blog site I get to share mine on a weekly basis. Ha! All one has to do is “x” out of the window if one doesn’t like what is being said. I did just that the other day, because of a link I saw on Facebook, I dropped in on a blog to see exactly what was being said. The writer was bashing other ministry leaders; I call that cannibalism, sheep eating sheep. I quickly dropped out of the site and moved on.
I believe most people who write, have to. They don’t have a choice. It will be in spiral notebooks or pretty journals or scraps of paper – but there will be words! Lots of them!
My heart overflows with a good theme…my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Psalm 45.1 (NASB)
I have a friend who loves to pontificate in words. She will share her thoughts in an email and then no less than fifteen minutes later, another email will arrive with the words, “The Last Word.” She’s a writer.
I have met many bloggers on Facebook and through my season with Hope for Women magazine, and, I love following their journeys by way of their blogs. Some of the women are just like me, they write to document their thoughts and lives and some others are in it to make an income and are concerned with Google Analytics and SEC and all kinds of statistical data. But, all of us have one thing in common: words!
Over the years I have read, enjoyed, and learned great truths from a collection of devotionals. Coffee and my current devotional were my early morning go-to.
I love devotionals, I even wrote one, but the other day a funny thing happened. Holy Spirit whispered in my spirit, “I want you to read My Word first thing every morning – not the words of others, but My Word.” Now, when God comes up close and personal like that, I listen. So, this week I have been enjoying Paul and his epistles – his letters to Galatia, Ephesus, and Phillipi. I needed to be reminded how much I love The Word! I’m still enjoying Jesus Calling and Dear Abba but right now, His Word is first priority.
I believe I like it this way – how do you start your day?
