I’ve been thinking about this question a lot. Why do I write?
Last week I decided to create a Facebook Author page – I just (self-) published my tenth book and thought perhaps it was time to have a page dedicated to my writing. I’ve even done a bit of promoting to the tune of $15.00!!! I want to share why I did that and the probability of doing it again.
This new book, 52 Commands of Jesus for Children, has Kingdom-building potential. You see, Jesus Himself tells us we have the Kingdom of God within us. You can find that scripture here. 52 Commands is a tool to build the kingdom of God in our little people. To turn this helter-skelter culture, we find ourselves in, around for the love of God. Contrary to popular belief, there is a right and there is a wrong and there is no gray area in-between! 7,000 years ago (give or take a thousand!) God instituted a standard of right. He went as far to write it all down and then Jesus came and fulfilled every jot and tittle of every standard and on top of it all? He poured Himself out and left us with an abundance of mercy and grace!
In my lifetime I have broken every one of the ten commandments, except the murder one which is number 5.
I am guilty.
One more thing.
I am found not guilty because of Jesus Christ’s atonement on a wooden crossbeam, on a hill called Calvary. His blood has wiped my guilty verdict away.
But, before He fulfilled His destiny on that cross, He taught us how to do this thing called LIFE. He gave us His commands – no, not the ten commandments, but His commands. They are found in the Gospels. And, it is these commands that teach us right from wrong and set the standards for a victorious life.
Who doesn’t want a victorious life?
THAT is why I write!
And, God, my good, good Father, told me to.
Why do you do what you do?

This morning this testimonial came to me via Facebook:
One of the teachings of Jesus discussed in 52 commands of Jesus for children written by Susan Chamberlain Shipe is meekness. Today we discussed the meekness of the disciples to drop everything and follow Jesus. I read the devotional which gave a definition of meekness. One of my children said that she was not very meek. I told her that it is not something comes naturally. It is something that God can teach us as we willingly follow him. #52commands
That is the reason I write! Yes, Lord!
