Why choose a one word?
In 2003, after a tragic time in our family, and, after crying out to the Lord for months and months – He and His Holy Spirit dropped a word deep into my spirit and it took root and has been the lifeline of my existence.
The word?
HOPE. Now may the God of HOPE fill you with all Joy and Peace, in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of Holy Spirit. Romans 15.13
Hope is life – and it has become my life word. Because it changes everything.
A New Word Each Year?
Been doing it for years and I like it. I admit some years it’s way more meaningful than others but it’s good to have a focus word. The words since Autumn 2017 have been especially meaningful. Reap (late 2017 through 2018). Favor (2019). Abundance (2020).
All three of those words bore much fruit.
2021 STEADFAST
Be steadfast, immoveable, always abounding in the Lord’s work. 1 Corinthians 15.58
Being steadfast and immoveable in speaking truth is my goal. I will never speak words that do not line up with The Word of God. And, if you think I am? Please call me out on it. I have a hard shell and I do not crack easily – we can have a good discussion!
YOUR one-words
I made a wordle with all of YOUR words (above). I love that you shared them with me. Thank you. Some of you have big, intense words. Like “strategic,” “fearless,” and, “flourish.” I am anxious to hear more about these choices. The giveaway has a winner and she will be receiving a pendant with her one-word-2021 FEARLESS on it, from Krafty Kash. Please check them out on Etsy and have your one-word made into a pendant. There is a coupon code right now SEE-YA-2020 for 10% off your order. Check them out!
What a great word for 2021, “Fearless.” Congratulations to the winner! And I am thankful that you are steadfast in the Word!
Bettie, grateful for YOU.
Beautiful honey, this year Our Lord gave me a verse, I was surprised but love it. The Lord himself goes before you and he will never leave you not forsake you. Do not be afraid do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8. Love ya honey
You have my fear book?
Is it too late for my “one word”? If not that is ok ……….I asked the Lord this morning as I sat with that first cup of coffee to give me one and………..He did. The word is “satisfy” and I am going to do a study on it. I know He gave me this word because I struggle at times to BE satisfied. “Psalm 107:9 He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.”
And I have to ask……………how do you make a “WORDLE”? I love that. Keep on keeping on my precious friend. You never fail to inspire me.
Wordles….Lord have mercy – I had a terrible time yesterday doing that!!!! SATISFY. What a phenomenally good word. xo
The Lord also gave me a verse.
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Phillipians 3:12-14
Hear! Hear! Great scripture, Jolene.
You bring so much light and encouragement with your life and words, Susan! Thanks! I have never done a “one word” for the year, but as I read this I am reconsidering that idea.
Pam, you are kind. I do hope you and hubs are doing well?
