Who Is Henry Heiny?
Stay with me!
Several months ago a blogger friend of mine posted a challenge on Facebook to list the last spam email you received on your blog. Well, mine was from Henry Heiny and it was a spam talking about things I would never repeat.
Just another name for the devil!
It dawned on me that Henry Heiny is synonymous with the devil. One who wants to distract. An enemy who wishes to steal, kill, and destroy. Satan has a lot of minions out there roaming around planet earth seeking whom he can distract and devour.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5.8
Henry sends me nasty spam just hoping I click on it. I learned a long time ago to never let anything enter my eye gate that could corrupt me. I avoid stuff like that. So Henry – you are just flat out of luck.
Set Your Discernment Meter
On the highest level. Don’t take chances and don’t risk your purity. Just say NO!
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4.8
Be Like Job!
He made a covenant with his eyes. Don’t you love that? We should make covenant with our eyes, our ears, our mouths, our hands, and our feet! Such wisdom in guarding ourselves with The Word and purity.
I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman. Job 31.1
Job was a smart man.
Social Media
I guard myself against SM too. Lord, social media is toxic waste. Don’t get me wrong I like Facebook and Instagram but O! Be Careful Little Eyes What You Read. There’s enough sludge out there to fill a septic tank a thousand times over.
I am no prude but I do want to guard my heart —
Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4.23
In Closing
I suppose this post was a ramble but I am reminding MYSELF and YOU to be ever so careful to what we listen to. There are voices everywhere and there is opportunity to distract at every turn. My counsel to ME and YOU is to line up every word with The Word. The Word of God is our plumbline – it is our standard.
If in doubt? Check it out.
I guest posted over at Mariel Davenport’s place this week and I’d love for you to swing by and drop a line. You can get there by clicking here.
And, the winners of the Nicholas Sparks book, THE RETURN, are:
Sue D and HMR!
Congrats! Books are on the way directly from the publisher.
That was an intriguing title! I get some weird and wonderful spam too, but I agree we need to be very careful what we click on. I’m in the habit of just skimming through my spam folder to make sure that nothing genuine has got in there and then hitting “delete all” quickly.
Me too, Lesley! But this guy HH, he sends them in droves!!!
I never heard of henry Hienie but I’m staying away from him for sure! 🙂
He won’t leave my Spam mailbox alone.
I guard against social media too, Susan. It is the perfect medium to spread hate. I had to laugh at your title, though. My grandson’s name is Henry and we sometimes call him “Henry Henry”! 🙂
Oh LOL!!!
Amen Susan. And again, Amen. I couldn’t agree with you more. Thank you for sharing,
O! be careful!
Oh my goodness this is so good!!
XO
Are you familiar with HH?
Yes and amen, Susan. We must guard our hearts and minds at all times. Phil 4:8 is a verse I pray OFTEN. It’s been a lifesaver.
Whatsoever…
Love this honey, and love the part about making a covenant with our eyes, ears and mouth. I’m sharing this honey!
Great and thank you.
Susan,
Philippians 4:8 has been speaking loudly to me as well, Susan! Not only social media, but the news (no matter the channel) needs our monitoring. These are certainly evil days and I love how you point out we need to make a covenant with our eyes (and our ears). Kicking Henry Heiny and all the other minnions to the curb! Excellent post!
Blessings,
Bev xx
Thanks Bev, we are in complete unity with the points in your comment!
We taught that verse in Job to our sons at an early age! We all have to guard our minds and hearts.
Such wisdom. You need to write a book on raising sons.
There is so much we need to guard ourselves from these days. Much the way spam emails slip in often unnoticed, these slick distractions can quickly gain entrance. Wonderful title and good word!
Sneaky little demons.
