19.
Nineteen.
I did a Google search.
And found [the most relevant] 19 incidents in the Bible.
19.
That seemed like a lot to me AND it gives me great hope. Listen…
Exodus 32.14 So the LORD changed His mind about the harm which He said He would do to His people.
Amos 7.6 The LORD changed His mind about this. “This too shall not be,” said the Lord GOD.
Jonah 3.10 When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. AND HE DID NOT DO IT.
So, IF God Himself can change His mind, then surely He is able to change mine!
Back in November I began seeking my OneWord2018 – and I believed diligent was it. Then, I sensed steadfast. Then, Truth. Great words. Great principles to focus on, especially for a writer (my greatest goal is to be a diligent and steadfast Truth writer). I trusted that I had heard God (and I DID) for these to be my 2018 words. I even wrote about them last week.
Then, this past weekend my friend Mei (pronounced May) posted this on Instagram and announced her word for 2018 was seed.
It was a lightning-from-heaven moment for me.
You see, in September I wrote REAP on the chalkboard in the kitchen – I didn’t change it for Thanksgiving or Christmas. REAP remained. When I read this post by my friend Mei, it was like the Lord hit me with His soft-as-a-feather hammer on my thick-as-steel head!!!
I believe with every holy cell in my body that my husband and I are in a season of REAPing. So I am going to stand firm on that.
We have spent years and years and years of sowing good seed into good ground and now we shall see the harvest.
We are REAPers. And, NOT grim ones – we are holy, sanctified, spirit-filled REAPers.
We are standing and believing.
OneWord2018 is changed!
If God can change HIS mind? He surely can change MINE! If you came over from Facebook – click here and leave your comment.
Don’t forget to comment to be entered for this beauty!!!
This week I’ll be linking up with:
I just love how He does that. And you are definitely reaping. You’ve been sowing into me a handful of years now. I sense blossoming after which comes reaping and I see it in so many of the connections you’ve established online. You are truly a Titus 2 woman.
I love hearing your Hannah and Simon stories! Your absolute joy in them is a beautiful thing!!!
Hebrews 12.1 YOU ARE MY on-earth cheerleader!!! Thank you Shelby – your encouragement means so very much to me.
I sense blossoming for you my dear friend!
Love you
Shirley I’m either going to BLOOM or BURST. LOL!!!
Love it! I have made my word, “ discipline.” I am curbing my snacks/portions and trying to walk some to get my legs going. I have hip and back issues. Postal service beat my body up! God will help me along my route I am sure! I ask for his guidance. Happy weekend 21st to Hannah girl!!!!
DISCIPLINE was my 2016 word = R.P.M. Read/Pray/Move, as in exercise. It was a good year. I found Johnny’s obit this week as I cleaned out a file. Seems like a lifetime ago. Made me sad but glad I knew him. xo
Nice blog Mimz, yes, you and Grandpa have sown good seeds everywhere and you will be blessed because of that! xo
You are one of our very best “harvests.” ♥ See you on Saturday.
I love that word! Though my word is Simplify, The Lord has been talking to me for months about sowing-sow your words, so good and not evil, sow simplicity, sow His Word deep in your soul.
Still sowing!
XO
Ah…then the season of reaping is right around the corner my friend!!! xo
Good for you! I do like your boldness and your “you-ness”. It’s refreshing and a blessing. May God bring that word into your life in its fullness.
My me-ness….Hope that’s a good thing!
Oh yes, I understand about those God-moments-of-changing-my-mind! But this sentence floored me today: “We are REAPers. And, NOT grim ones – we are holy, sanctified, spirit-filled REAPers.” Hallelujah!
GLORY! Happy dance time!
Isn’t our Sweet Abba so Precious . My 2 words that kept coming to me are: Faithful and Trust. Especially in this season that I’m in. Our Abba is Faithful and we can truly Trust Him, He answers our prayers before we even ask, we just have to be still. Susi, you and Lowell have sowed so many good seeds, now y’all shall reap the blessings of the harvest. Well done honey, now watch what Abba will do for you.
HM, you are the most giving, seed-sower I know —- BELIEVE for your season of REAPING. xo
Went to see my best girlfriend yesterday and we were talking about how the Lord communicates and she said well lately He’s been quiet. So I went home and get a text from her — He wasn’t quiet anymore and spoke to her in a miraculous way! Incredible testimony of how HE is there in our every day conversations, listening, laughing, loving us…
All ways and Always, sestra.
Oh I love this for so many reasons!!! (And I DO love that God changes His mind – and it is always for our benefit!) My Word remains the same: Joy… some days I see it coming for me and I brace myself and get caught up in and it is wonder-full but there are also the days that I must contend for it and hold on tight and not let it go! I am believing with you that this is a year of supernatural reaping –in every area of your lives!
So much love and so many blessings, sweet friend!
xoxo
JOY has to come (fairly) easily for you this year with that cute little fuzzy wuzzy on your shoulder!!! So much joy! But I hear you Ms K…my spirit hears you. xo
You and your hubby keep on reaping for God’s good and kingdom, Susan! And what cute cups! Thanks for brightening our day with your encouraging posts and lovely giveaway!
Yes — KINGDOM. Another word that keeps popping up. Mercy, I do hope He doesn’t change my mind again!!! xo
Susan,
I am chuckling about how God changed your mind about your word! And I love the word reap and what it represents to you in this season of your life. I pray for God to change my mind about things I think I know for sure and am so often surprised at how God do small miracles in the midst of my certainty to show me a fresh truth about something new! Looking forward to see what God will do with your word this year! xo
Valerie, I am looking forward to a grand harvest!!! Thank you for coming over – I spent time at your place this morning also!!!
Thank you for sharing my IG post, Susan! I wasn’t planning to share my one word because I’m one of those people who, if I choose one, I forget about it in a few weeks. This one has stuck with me and my Bible reading from Genesis that day confirmed it again. It was the very first sentence in my Bible reading plan that day. I didn’t even get to the next sentence. I felt God wanting me to write about it at that moment. So glad God used it to confirm your word for you! Isn’t it amazing how God does that?
I am daily amazed. Glad to have you visiting today, Mei… We need to have another “southern” meet-up. xo
THIS right here: “We are REAPers. And, NOT grim ones – we are holy, sanctified, spirit-filled REAPers.” Amen. xo
I’ve always hated the image of that awful grim reaper. UGHly
What an awesome word! Can’t wait to hear how you dig into it and it digs into you!
Sarah, I’ll be sure to keep you updated!
Love it. He may change His mind but His will is always to show us how much He loves us and longs for us. 🙂 You share His truth so beautifully!!
Golly, these kinds of comments unravel me. Thank you DD. 😉
Reap is a great word- it will be interesting to see how that plays out this year! And I love your openness to God changing your mind!
Lesley, a long and winding road … to complete obedience!!!
This is so like God, isn’t it? I also saw that post from Mei. The word Reap is so rich. God is going to knock your socks off with this. Just my thought.
Joining you as you look to God and how he will teach you about REAPing this tear.
MARY, THANK YOU. I pray so.
You’re definitely not a grim reaper but rather a joyful reaper! 🙂 Love this!
There have been grim times, Lisa — but God always shows up and shows off!
I’ll be honest lady, when I heard REAP I immediately went grim. haha But I love that you even addressed that with such beauty… holy, sanctified, spirit-filled REAPers. Amen and amen! xoxo
AND, AMEN.
God is really good at changing God’s mind let alone ours. 🙂 I love this word for you friend! May 2018 be a year of reaping.
Thanks Tara.
I love that God will change His mind when He chooses to!
That is very good for us, isn’t it!
I always say I change my mind like I change diapers… frequently! 😉 Good for you for being obedient and open to what God is doing even if it means a game changer. Reap will be an awesome word! I am thinking of that oregano jar that you posted about recently. Get ready for harvest!
Ooooh, I like that. I like it a lot!
I finalized my one word this week too: Breakthrough.
I pray that you will reap bounty, love, and a beautiful harvest this year.
Thanks for your faithfulness in promoting Christian women bloggers.
What a great word: BREAKTHROUGH! I pray you have MANY!!!
This is so great. It seems that some people including myself have the tendency to think on the negative side of reap. This has been a blessing to me . Have a great time this week end and give Hannah my love and Birthday wishes.
As is the norm, the one who kills, steals, and destroys took the word reap and made it his, as in grim reaper. To hell with him – we are heavenly reapers, kingdom reapers. It’s our season of REAPing.
God has a way of getting our attention. I love the way He spoke to you and brought confirmation of your One Word through your friend’s post. I look forward to watching you reap in the coming year!
Thanks Barbie… I am expectant!!!
🙂 And best of all, God changes us all the time and always for the better!
All ways and always!
I would love God to change my mind as I have been walking through the valleys for a longtime and yearn to feel the joy of sunshine on the mountaintops that seems so elusive.
I pray Kaylee the mountaintop is but a step away for you.
