We had an incident happen in our family several weeks ago and that lousy slug Satan has used it to knock on my door with fear.
Fear is his stinking, rotten, favorite weapon.
Fear can paralyze a person – a God-fearing, Spirit-filled person … so don’t ever think yourself immune because we are not. Satan cannot have our soul but he sure can wreak havoc on our peace and joy.
So what does one do when fear comes knocking on your door?
Number one — engage every single lock in your arsenal.
Deadbolts.
Chains.
Padlocks.
And, MOST IMPORTANTLY? Engage the sword.
The sword of The Spirit —————————> THE LIVING WORD.
Ready for some fighting scriptures? This is going to be like a Baptist Sword Drill. On your mark. Get set. Go!
God is my Defense. Psalm 59.9
The Lord is my Rock and my Fortress and my Deliverer; the God of my strength, in Whom I trust; my Shield and the Horn of my salvation, my Stronghold and my Refuge; my Savior. 2 Samuel 22.2-3
The Lord is my Strength and my Shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28.7
When the enemy comes in, like a flood the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59.19
We may boldly say: THE LORD is my Helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? Hebrews 13.6
The Lord is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear? THE LORD is the Strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27.1
As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever. Psalm 125.2
Because you have been my Help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. Psalm 63.7
For Your Name’s sake, lead me and guide me. Psalm 31.3
Knock, Knock. Who’s there? Fear. Fear who? FEAR NOT.
Not today, Satan, not tomorrow either.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning. Psalm 130.5-6
The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, ‘Destroy!’ Deuteronomy 33.27
When I’m in spiritual warfare, I get pretty radical. Down and dirty actually. I will not abide him slithering into my mind. I walk around chanting, “JESUS.” I am in a stance of prayer continually – never saying amen. I continuously remind the LORD that we are His and He surrounds us with songs of deliverance.
Keep us O God from the evil one and sanctify us with YOUR TRUTH. John 17.15-16
Don’t expect others to fight your battle – YES, you can bring others in but we are to invest ourselves in this battle of souls. Take no rest. Take no prisoners.
FIGHT LIKE A BELIEVER in JESUS CHRIST.
Swords in hand.
Helmet on heads.
Boots on feet.
Belt on waist.
Breastplate on chest.
Shield in hand.
Here’s a printable with all the scriptures.FIGHT LIKE A BELIEVER
Thank you for including the list of Scriptures! So true, Jesus led by example by including Scripture during His testing in the desert.
Always our Example is He! Thanks for reading and I hope you printed the printable!
Fear is a liar! I can’t help but sing that song.
Sing it loud, sing it clear, for all to hear!
I have found that confessing you His righteousness really helps to fight fear, we wouldn’t be righteous without Him. And I used to think fear was the opposite of faith but I believe it is the opposite of love, because perfect love casts it out.
Interesting and true. Perfect LOVE casts out all FEAR. Good point.
Perfect timing on this post, and that knock knock joke is just amazing. I’m gonna say it loud: “FEAR WHO??”
Fear NOT. Yes, Lord a zillion times over.
It IS the Word of God that keeps the fears away and brings peace of mind. I needed this reminder today.
We all do.
Amen honey, the evil one is a stinking liar! Oh how I hate him! The battlefield is our minds, and he loves to attack there first. I’m always saying Jesus, Jesus and then I tell the evil one who I Am! I’m my Lord’s princess, I’m HIS child, and I will continue to fight!!
Be a vigilant warrior, HM.
I love this! So needed today. Printed the Scriptures and planning to share them with my small group!
Thanks, for much needed words today!
XO
Please print off many for your ladies. WE MUST BE BATTLE READY.
Amen, Susan. You’ve armored yourself well and have encouraged us to do the same.
The enemy might be prowling around, but we know Who has the victory.
Praying for you even as we speak …
Linda, thanks for coming over. We do know the end of the story, don’t we!
What a beautiful list of verses for those days when the devil wants to bring us down! Hugs to you, my friend.
And to you!!! (((xo)))
I screenshot this! Thank you for these weapons.
Be armed for battle. The battle is His but He needs us to engage.
Fear is devious and sneaky, but you are prepared. Wonderful list of scriptures to help fight fear!
ARMED AND DANGEROUS!
Armed. Ready. And victorious.
Amen.
Susan, I love those scriptures. I faced real fear for the first time after my husband died. I was nearly paralyzed by it! And God’s promises were so key to helping me turn my thoughts around so I could live without fear.
Lisa, thank you for reminding me of your story. How do people live without HIS HOPE?
