Emily Freeman, a fellow North Carolina sister, writes over at Chatting in the Sky, (honestly) one of my favorite blogs and offers the “what I learned” linkup (hmm, linkup isn’t working this month!) each month. I enjoy doing this because it causes me to reflect on the month and think on things I would normally put in the to be deleted file of my brain. Even if you don’t blog or journal, it is a fun list to make. For those of you who kindly comment, please share at least one thing you learned in May!
May has been a plethora of emotion! Up’s and down’s and all-around – we are ready for a new month!
Did you know a mouse nest inside the engine of your car can leave you stranded on the highway? Hubs learned that in May!
It was affirmed that God gives the desires of hearts to those who honor Him. Hannah said, “Prom was everything I hoped and dreamed it would be.”
This year I tracked and learned that Eastern Phoebes hatch and fledge in a short 13-day span and they leave enough doo and poo to fill a bucket. Gross.
I learned (again) to pray BIG prayers to our BIG God. You know what my Papa God did? He sold a few cattle and gifted our Hannah with an external scholarship for her college education. I have not stopped doing the happy hallelujah dance – not sure I could quiet these size ten’s from doing the shuffle!!!
I learned that stuff still happens even when you’re doing everything right! And, that PPP’s are still part of my personality and I hate it! (Pathetic Pity Parties)
I didn’t need to learn this but I love being reminded how crazy I am about this boy. How can Simon be 12 already?
I continue to learn how grateful I am to live in a secure home in a free country and to be healthy and strong enough to take care of it!
Aren’t photos fun? I adore seeing pictures of others lives and hope you enjoyed mine. I did learn several other things, which I’ll list here:
- We need more Nehemiah’s and Ezra’s in our world and churches today. I read these books in the Old Testament with great fervor and, you know how you feel sad when you finish a good book? Yes. That.
- That spiritual giftings change over the years. I re-took a Spiritual Gifts test and the results were so different than one I had taken years ago. You can take it here.
- I learned that I am an ISTJ on the Briggs-Meyers scale. I must say the results weren’t too shocking! You can take that test here.
- Did you know that most-likely the king mentioned in the book of Nehemiah is Queen Esther’s son? Isn’t that the most interesting thought?
I continue to learn that I’m never too old to learn something new.
What did you learn in May?
xo
I love the photos in this post. Our Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills…
We sang that song in Sonday School and I sing it every day!!!! ♫ Thanks for visiting.
Ah yes – I LOVE love love this link up at Emily’s… (well – at least it HAS been at Emily’s place!) 😉 I’m working on mine this afternoon!
I am an ISFJ… so we are close! I love your photo’s and your yard looks so inviting! What a full month May was! (Sorry about the car… yikes… but so glad y’all are ok!)
~Karrilee~
K – I do hope Emily figures out how to get the linkup back!
Mouse nest in your car’s engine! Yuck!! I found a mouse in my basement last week. First time I’ve seen a mouse down there since moving in a year and a half ago. Put traps in and now no sign of anymore. Hopefully that stays that well. I’m so excited for Hannah and how prom was everything she wished and hoped for. I’m an INFJ on the Myer-Briggs. I also keep learning that I’m never too old to keep learning.
Tara, I loathe rodents!!! xo
I love your lessons! Now the whole bucketful of bird poop…um, yuck! I’ve learned that house finches think they’re hummingbirds (they won’t staff of the feeders). We discovered our first year here the squirrels and engines don’t mix…
From one birder to another!
We had BATS!!!! The five of them came out from behind the shutter when I squirted them out with the hose. You can’t believe the poop……my neighbor told me to throw some moth balls behind the shutter and the bottom lip let the moth balls rest…the poop has cut back to almost nothing so I think I found the solution and they may go somewhere else to sleep. Maybe YOUR house. LOL.
Love Hannah’s photo, glad she enjoyed the prom, Simon is such a nice young man, glad the cows got sold for schooling….thank you Lord….know Gma is still dancing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoyed our trip for our anniversary, now time to start packing up this house for it’s sale July 18th. Hugs
((((xo)))) right back at you, Merry!!!
