God’s Poem
Don’t you love when you learn something you didn’t know? It’s been staring at me for years but until Pastor Josh brought it out in a sermon I had no idea.
For you faith people – I bet you’ve read this passage a zillion times – I know I have.
Ready?
For we are his workmanship [poem], created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Let Me Explain
workmanship, potema (poy-ay-mah); Strong’s 4161: from the verb poieo, “to make.” (Compare poem and poetry.) The word signifies that which is manufactured, a product, a design produced by an artisan. Poiema emphasizes God as the Master Designer, the universe His creation (Romans 1.20), and the redeemed believer as His new creation (Ephesians 2.10). Before conversion our lives had no rhyme nor reason. Conversion brought us balance, symmetry, and order. We are God’s poem – His work of art. [Word Wealth, Spirit Filled Life Bible]
Shall We Dance?
I am God’s poem – I am His work of art.
And, so are you when you give Him your heart and receive His free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
It’s been a while since we’ve happy hallelujah’ed dance. Grab your dancing shoes, I’ll turn the music on.
These precious souls are His poem in the fields of heaven. Every one of them His work of art.
Amen, Susan! Have you heard Michael Card’s album, Poiema? It’s all about how we are God’s poem. We are living letters. If you haven’t heard it, I think you’ll like it. Just search on Youtube and it’s right there.
Blessings,
Gayl

I do love a good dance session!
I love this! After a long spiritual dry season, floundering in the weeds, I am seeking out the Lord more and more. I have missed feeling His presence with me!!
Love you, Sus’!!!
You, my friend, are His work of art. One of a kind, made to glorify Him! ♥
Susan, this is great. I pray this verse frequently, but today thank you for sharing this a-ha!! Moment. Blessings.
~Selah ~
I mean, it is an a-ha moment, isn’t it? Kindreds….
Susan such a beautiful thought, looking at “workmanship” I never made the connection. I find this especially comforting since many times I struggle with my identity and aceptance in Christ. Thank you!
We, YOU, are His work of art. Incredible!!!
Susan, I remember well hearing Beth Moore bring out that very point at a conference. It was so powerful and I have never forgotten it, nor ever read that verse quite the same way since. And it fell just as powerfully in reading your post. Wonderful encouragement!
Ah… It simply amazed me!
Love this……. I had no idea…..so thankful for your teaching us this. Love love love. Ephesians is my fave book.
I know it’s your favorite! You are HIS POEM, HIS WORK OF ART.
When someone unpacks this kind of treasure, I wish I could read Greek, too!
Strong’s is a pretty good resource!!! But, I do know what you mean.
I can’t even tell you how much I love this!
I know, right?
