I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4.13
I love being around strong, bold in their faith, women. They empower me. Encourage me. Cause me to be and do better. The past week I’ve been around two such awesome women.
The first being, my cousin. She had been praying about something, something very important that concerned her grandson. The outcome wasn’t looking the way she had hoped, she knew if “it” went a certain way there would most likely be serious, negative consequences for her grandson. What Grandma wants that? She prayed. She trusted. She hoped. Finally, she heard from him, “Gram, I just want you to know…” She got off the phone and the flood gates broke and she cried for thirty minutes out of sheer relief.
She said to me, “You know it’s those things that keep you on your knees.”
Those two words implanted deep in my spirit. Those things. Those things are different for every single person reading this.
chronic pain & illness
laboring to birth a baby you know has already gone to heaven
I know people experiencing every one of those things listed. And, I have some current those things, which keep me seeking the Lord and His perfect will.
So do you.
This weekend I spent time with my daughter. She is experiencing the “my ten year old son is playing baseball and isn’t doing very well” Mommy syndrome. After a particularly grueling game she asked my grandson, “How did you do that? Keep going. Keep pitching. Keep on keeping your chin up.” He said, “Mommy, I just kept repeating I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength, just the way you do when your leg hurts so bad.” She then proceeded to preach (apples don’t fall far from the tree)!
This is (mainly) what she said, “Jesus didn’t hang on that cross so we could live an easy life – He died so we would have Him to cling to when we have to do the HARD THINGS.” Those things.
It’s Holy Week and it behooves each one of us to consider our Savior’s death – the suffering, the heinous pain, the humiliation, and worst of all the separation from His Father – all those things He suffered so one day we might proclaim with great faith and hope…
I can do all those things through Christ who gives me strength.
I want to pray for your those things, if you are bold enough to share them. And, remember, Sunday morning is coming and Jesus really is ALIVE! Blessings to you during this season of Resurrection.
