Sometimes you just have to get out Dodge! Hubs and I couldn’t have scheduled a better week to disappear to sunny Florida than his birthday week in February. We left with eight inches of snow on the ground and never looked back. We have the best, most awesome neighbor, Mr. Walter, who diligently looks in on the house, the heaters, the water, etc. because, well, we live in a house as old as me!!! The week we were gone proved to be the worst winter weather of 2015! Snow, ice, wind. I’m so glad we missed it!
We ventured south as though we were two seasoned retirees – which we clearly are not! We both work full-time and needed a break. We travel well and our four-legged friend, Sam, is a traveling trooper!
Our first real stop…Mims, FL.
Then to our friends’ home in Cocoa – a riverfront paradise! We rode along with three dolphins as we cruised the waterway in the pontoon boat. The only photo I managed to capture is the one with a mere fin!!! My coffee mug and I enjoyed two glorious sunrises while there! We enjoyed fabulous fellowship and delicious meals! Thank you A & G!
Then, we drove south on US 1 all the way to my sister’s friend’s home in Pt. St. Lucie. Went to the beach on Hutchinson Island and had lunch at a biker joint (fabulous food!) and the hubs loves motorcycles!
Next stop, Lake Worth. Lots of people visits! Sons, sister, cousin, niece, special friends. Hubs and son #2 in picture.
Westward bound to my mother-in-law. Hubs’ mom is ageless – looks the same at almost-90 as she did at 70! Sam loves traveling! This is the place I catch up on R&R. One of the most peaceful, prettiest places in my world! Mom is a great cook and a no-stress host. She gives up her bedroom suite to us and is just plain super to spend time with!
On Monday, March 2, we reluctantly headed northeast. A short side trip to St. Augustine and lunch with a special young woman. Another side trip to Charleston SC and an overnight visit with our dear friends, Paula and Ken. Ā A quick stop in Statesville to see our daughter/son-in-law and grandkids…
THEN, HOME SWEET HOME. All the snow was melted; our house was warm, dry, and just the way we left it. Thanks, Mr. Walter!
Thanks for sharing your adventure and some of God’s beauty-GREAT pictures! I’m so thankful we hit 71 degrees yesteday, or I would be really jealous : ) Glad
ya’ll could get away, and glad you’re back.
Jan, thank YOU for looking in. I miss you, lady!
Loved the pictures. Especially the eagle’s nest. A trip well deserved.
Carol, thanks for that! Not sure we “deserved” it but it sure was great!
Suze
so great to see and hear about your whole trip. What beautiful pictures you shared with us. I love especially the photos of Lowell and his mom and you and Lowell with your son. Joy written ALL over every face!
YOU AND GARO were a huge part of the wonderfulness of our trip!
Love these pictures, so glad that y’all got to escape!!
HM, and what an escape it was!!!
Photos so good
glad you & Lowell & Sam had such a good & refreshing time
all of you needed & deserved it
Lowell’s mom looks great — a “wonder” for sure
glad you’re back with us thought (:
K…she is a wonder. I’m beginning to think I’ll have hubster around for quite a while!!!
I’ve missed you friend but sounds like this trip was just what the doctor ordered. It is so good to disconnect from social media etc and spend time in God’s creation. Your mother in law looks wonderful for her age. I had to reread that sentence a few times to make sure I read that right. š Glad you are home safe and sound.
Tara, I know! I should look so great at 90!
Looks like a great trip. I feel so blessed that I live so close to the beach and have nice weather. We are doing a trip in a couple weeks and I’m thinking unplugging sounds like a great idea. š
Amanda, try it I know you’ll love it!
Have to admit……I’m a little jelly!!
Put that jelly on some G-Free toast and enjoy!
Sounds like a great time, great trip and a little R & R is sometimes needed for all of us. My cousin Robin lives in Port St. Lucie, that is where my Aunt MaryLou (her mother) passed in November. Glad you had a wonderful trip.
We have seen nothing but WHITE for the past month in Ohio. Beginning to wonder if we will ever see Spring. There are promises for warmer weather this weekend. We’re thankful for our little snow compared to Boston .
Donna, last night was the Worm Moon – those earth worms will be pushing through very soon and that snow will be history!!!
