“The huge building had been run by the concierge, or keeper of the keys…” from Bon Appetit by Sandra Byrd
His name was Fred, “Freddie” to those who knew and loved him. He was a retiree looking for a little extra income. He was Brooklyn-brash with Palm Beach undertones! The limos would come up that long drive and stop at the front door, Fred greeted every single person the same. He was a delight and he was proud of his title, Concierge of Trump Plaza Palm Beach.
Freddie kept the keys and Freddie guarded the door. The Concierge.
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16.19
Those are red-letter words in Matthew, Jesus words. The Concierge of Heaven wishes to give us the keys to the kingdom of Heaven. He boldly tells us that in His Name we hold great power – we can bind things up and shake things down.
Do you believe that? I mean, really believe that?
What are you believing God for?
A new church?
Today, Jesus Himself, holds the keys.
He opens the door and says, “Come boldly.”
The Concierge of Heaven invites us to join Him. To trust Him. To (really) believe Him.
I’m taking hold of the keys – I’m going in. I’m going to bind up a few things and shake down a few.
He holds the door for me. Want to come along?
