O! The clamour of these days! Everyone is clamouring – for what? For the Son of God to be put to death. There is no room here for the Son of God just now, no room for quiet holy communion with the Father. (Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, August 8 devotion)
I find it interesting that Oswald Chambers writes of the “clamour of the day”. This devotional was written in the 1920’s – I can only imagine what he would think of today’s clamor!
It’s hard not to have clamoring in one’s busy life – yet, Jesus’ words, Come unto Me and I will give you rest, are just as much for NOW as they were when penned.
I encourage you to do your best to find quiet, holy communion with The Father – even if it is but a mere five minutes.
Escape the clamor and bask in His holy, blessed rest.
