Jabez called out to the God of Israel: “If only You would bless me, extend my border, let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not cause any pain.” And God granted his request. 1 Chronicles 4.10
The Blogger’s Prayer
The blogger called out to the God of Israel:
Please bless me, Lord, with uplifting material, edifying words, and legal images.
Lord, expand my readership; increase my Google stats; broaden my platform; and, grow my brand.
Holy Spirit, keep Your hand on mine as I put fingers to keyboard.
Father God, protect me from negative comments, haters, bashers, and teach me to take no offense, when unkind words are hurled.
And, most of all, O Lord, may my words and thoughts encourage others; build them up; inspire them; and, never, ever cause them hurt, shame, the feeling of less-than, or blame.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray, amen.
In all honesty, I don’t care one whit about readership count or brand because that is not why I write. My blog is not a source of income at this time (perhaps, one day?). I love writing and sharing and I have found blogging to be the great remedy for my pen!
xo
This is perfect Susan! My blog is a source of a very small income for me, and I have wasted far more time than I should stressing about things I can’t change. Thanks for the reminder about what my true purpose is.
😉 Melissa, I hope we bloggers always stay real with one another! I’m always open for some good, Godly reproof!!!
This is a great prayer for bloggers. This was “Father God, protect me from negative comments, haters, bashers, and teach me to take no offense, when unkind words are hurled.” my favorite part. Sometimes harder to do than you would think, but with God’s help all things are possible.
Amanda, absolutely we must learn to separate the wheat from the tares!!!
This is so great… I LOVED The Prayer of Jabez when it came out years ago and I love the fun personalized twist you offer here! Praying it with you, friend! (Although – I don’t really care about the numbers, brand, or platform either!)
Karrilee, I love the Prayer of Jabez, and the buzz it made years ago – when I happened on it the other day I thought, hmm, a blogger could adopt that one!
Great post! I love how you personalized the prayer for bloggers. I’m not into the stats at all either, but you sure do read about them a lot regarding blogging. Great prayer for all of us to pray for each other!
Amen, Robyn, let’s do it!
What a lovely blogger’s prayer. Those words also echo the prayer in my heart regarding blogging.
I especially like this part, “Holy Spirit, keep Your hand on mine as I put fingers to keyboard.” For if the Holy Spirit is guiding me, whether I have a small or large readership, I am in His will.
Susan, absolute Truth!
I love this prayer. Such a great Scriptural imagination you applied here. I will be praying with all of you lovely ladies who have become so dear to me.
♥ Colleen.
Great prayer for bloggers, but like you I’m most concerned that my words encourage others and glorify God. I don’t know if I’ll ever have a large readership or make any money from it, but I hope it will always be a blog that honors God. Blessings to you, Susan! xo
Me too, Gayl!
