Advent: noun; the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.
The whole Christian world is in the midst of celebrating the Advent of Jesus Christ, born two thousand years ago in Bethlehem, Israel, in a manger.
A holy and important celebration. One to pause for. A season to savor and behold.
For four hundred years before the angel visited Mary, the prophetic world was quiet. Those are sometimes referred to as “The Silent Years.” It is no wonder people were shocked to hear that Mary was with child “having never known a man.”
What, prey tell, would we think of such an announcement today?
Yeah, right, Mary, likely story.
Do I look stupid?
Uh, I wasn’t born yesterday, girlfriend.
The Lord speaks to me – He comes in close and puts words on my heart and in my head and I listen. THAT happened yesterday morning. I was sitting in our living room, the twinkle lights sparkling from the mantle, a blanket over my lap and the whisper came…
You are living in an even greater time of Advent.
YES, Lord. Show me.
Every single person alive today is living in the Advent of My return. I came as a baby the first time – a gentle Lamb – The Sacrificial Lamb slayed on Calvary’s hill. I will return – I said I would – and, I will … as The Great Lion of Judah. Things are quiet now – but that will change – at My return.
So, today I tell you we are living, breathing participants of the Greatest Advent the world will ever experience. The Return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His church. For His followers. For those whose sins have been washed away by the blood of The Lamb. We are those who will hear the great trump of His return – the great roar of the Lion.
The greatest and the final Advent of history.
Does it find us ready?
What if we lived in the expectancy of The Greatest Advent? Would it change us? Would it make us more kingdom-minded?
On earth as it is in Heaven.
