I met Patti at the ALLUME Writers Conference in October of 2015 – I liked her immediately. She is savvy, smart, and has a happy, contagious outlook! Her blog, OLD THINGS NEW, describes two things: 1. What Jesus does with us when He redeems us as His own; and, 2. Taking old ‘things’ and making them new with paint and some glitter and glue! Last summer, Patti welcomed a group of bloggers into her lovely home in Simpsonville, SC – a beautiful home she shares with her doctor husband, Kelly or as she calls him, Mr. OTN (Old Things New!), Sasha her senior fur baby, and Charli Girl the newest addition to their fur collection and cradled in her arms to the left! The troupe of writers sat around a table and enjoyed fellowship all afternoon. Good food, fun chatter, and even a craft to take home! It was like grown-up VBS.
A couple of weeks ago hubs and I had the great pleasure of spending the weekend with Patti and Kelly, the fur babies, and two other friends. It will be remembered as a highlight of my 2017 summer! We shared hours of great conversation. We swam in Lake Keowee. We drank coffee. We ate some really good food! Saturday night, hubs and I prepared a grilled steak dinner and on Sonday, Patti prepared a Low Country Boil. My first-ever LCB and man, was it great! It was so great that I fixed one myself the weekend after we returned home. I’ve never been much of a seafood cook, but Patti made me “boil brave!” THAT recipe will definitely make its way to Tasty Tuesday in the next couple of weeks.
Today, Patti’s Pasta with Roasted Veggies, is the star of the show. The printable is below. Be sure to go over to the Old Things New blog and turn some pages – read their story – hear about their very own annual Christmas with the Krank’s party and so much more. Leave a comment and tell her Susan, Larry’s wife, sent you – she’ll totally know what you mean!
Bon Appétit!
