♫♫♫We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing. He hastens and chastens His will to obey! ♫♫♫
It’s the big week. Families gather around a table and eat until their stomachs hurt! Then they slouch in the living room and vegetate around the television. Sounds painful, eh?
Our table will be full on Thursday – I should say my daughter’s dining room table will be brimming with loved ones and food. Yes, I’ll sit with my husband and my was-band, two of my children (there is always one missing – dang it!), our son-in-law, two grandchildren, a special little visitor, and it will be wonderful. After dinner we will have our time of sharing — I have some good questions ready on festive cards. We will laugh, wince, eye-roll and laugh some more. THANKS-GIVING is my favorite holiday and 2017 will be grand.
I believe the meal may be even ‘more better’ if I make this side! Fellow blogger, Emily, shared it on her site several weeks ago but I quickly printed and got permission to share. Be sure to check out her other holiday sides by visiting here.
My hope is every one of you have a blessed and grateful Thanksgiving weekend.
Are you ready? Brown sugar and bacon sweet potatoes…
And, Thanksgiving would not be complete without Mother’s Corn Spoon Bread: (click on image for printable)
Bon Appétite!
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 John verse 2
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness, come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him, and bless His Name. Psalm 100
Yummy! I am tempted to try but the grandsons are looking forward to my traditional sweet potatoes just like my Mom made. Thankful for you, Susan. Hugs and prayers for a quick sale on your house.
Karen, it DOES sound good, right? Bacon!!!
Both recipes look delicious! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Anita, do the corn bread – the other won’t be near as good without the bacon. #vegetarian
