I “met” Lisa-Jo Baker this past winter when I was contemplating compiling the Five Minute Friday book, yet, that wasn’t my first encounter with her! In 2014 she released her book, Surprised by Motherhood, and I was blessed to be one of its first readers. The book is an honest, sincere, serious, and, at times hilarious, look at motherhood! Lisa-Jo, a lawyer and world-traveler, not a stranger to hard work, was (as we all are/were/will be) ill-equipped for this new job description: MOTHERHOOD! If you haven’t read her book, be sure to check it out here. It would be a perfect Christmas gift for a new mom!
As noted above, I actually met Lisa-Jo face-to-face … well … email to email in March. Many of you might not know that Five Minute Friday is another baby Ms. Baker birthed back on January 13th, 2011, (you can read her FIRST FMF post here), the rest they say is FMF History! Lisa-Jo was gracious and eager for the compilation project to get underway and she was extremely helpful and supportive at every twist and turn of the process.
One of the sweetest things we have in common is a good hot cuppa tea – in fact, I’m sipping on one as I write this post. All though continents apart, we were both raised on hot tea, with milk and lots of sugar. Lisa-Jo, South African, learned the art and comfort of hot tea.
Tea and love.
