Jennifer Dukes Lee, author and blogger, is one of the nicest people online! I’ve been joining her weekly linkup for well over a two years and when you invest time in reading people’s words, you kind of get to know them. Jennifer is articulate and extremely well-written. She is the wife of a farmer and Mom to two girls – she loves the Lord, her family, her life and her people! She is kind. Does she have it “all together”? Doubtful, none of us do! One of my first Jennifer encounters was her book, Love Idol. This book’s message to its readers was in a nutshell…
YOU ARE PREAPPROVED!
And, hear this…for 46 days Ms. Lee covered every single mirror in her home – because she wanted ONLY God’s approval – she didn’t want any other influence over her but His. (Read about that here.) Isn’t that amazing? I was so impressed by that – blown away actually. It’s what turned me into her raving fan!!! I’m just glad our paths crossed and today? I’m glad she’s visiting here at All Things Christmas Tasty Tuesday! Aren’t you?
Let’s not waste another moment – let’s hear from Jennifer!
Ever since I was a little girl, I have absolutely loved everything about Spritz Cookies at Christmas. Mom would start making them in mid-December, and it seemed like they were in constant supply all the way up until Christmas Day.
Once, when I was four years old, Mom and Dad couldn’t find me anywhere. What they didn’t know, was that I was hiding in the pantry, with the round Tupperware container where Mom stored the cookies. I was secretly pulling one Spritz cookie after another out of the round Tupperware container that Mom kept them in. I could hear my parents calling my name, and I knew that they were getting close, so I quickly gobbled as many of those cookies as I could. They found me a short while later, covered in crumbs. Needless to say, I had a terrible belly ache afterward. I don’t remember if I got in trouble, but I do know that my feeding frenzy earned me a nickname in my family – a name that still sticks 40 years later: Spritz!
And now, every year, I make Spritz Cookies with my daughters, Lydia and Anna. I keep them in a round Tupperware container…on a high shelf. 😉

Jennifer’s recent book The Happiness Dare challenges its readers to be happy! The Happiness Dare asks this question, “Would you like to be happier?” Who wouldn’t, right? Jennifer shares with us…never mind… buy her book and read it for yourself! It’s the perfect read for a snowy January day when the wind is blowing and you can push back in your favorite chair with a hot cuppa and a cookie!

Spritz cookies make me think of my mom. That was her favorite each year. I even have her cookie press to make them. Blessings my friend!
Mary, you must make Jennifer’s recipe then!
I had to get a new cookie press. But spritz still tastes like home. Yum!
I love Spritz cookies! When my girls were all home we used to make them every year and then my boys began to enjoy making them, too. It’s been a few years since we had them. I think it’s about time to bring them back, don’t you?
Thanks for inspiring us, Jennifer! Blessings to you, Susan, and to Jennifer!
Now, to figure out how to make them gluten free!
You can make them gluten free if you buy Bob’s Redmill all purpose GF flour. I have had no issues subbing it for any recipe that is under 4 cups. You may just need to wet your hands before loading it into the spritzy thing to help it hold together. Love that you shared a holiday tradition from someone who has inspired you!
Hoping you had a Merry Christmas!
I love seeing our favorites here.
You are so sweet!
I really loved Jennifer’s The Happiness Dare as well. It’s nice to hear affirmation that it’s okay to want to be happy!
That means so much, friend!
What a sweet 🙂 story! Glad to be neighbors at #TellHisStory
Fun to see you here, Becky. How your Christmas was great.
Chocolate Spritz cookies are my beautiful granddaughter Ashlyn’s favorite. She was ease dropping on a conversation with a friend of mine who was copying the recipe and when she got to the butter she said “oh Lord these are heart attack cookies”! Needless to say that’s what Ashlyn calls them now. They are her favorite and two years ago I got to see her for her birthday and I asked her on the phone prior to the weekend visit and asked what she wanted for her birthday and she said ” I WANT TO COOK ALL MY AND MY BROTHERS FAVORITES!” She didn’t want a gift just to cook and boy did we. Each of my grandkids have their favorites and they took those home to enjoy, but they have no idea the enormous gift she gave me. They remember always helping me cook and it was that simple task they wanted most! This is the second Christmas without them or their Mom and Uncle and next year makes two years since I’ve seen or heard from any of them. So each year gets harder and recovering from a major surgery this year makes this a difficult one. But I thank God everyday I awake and keep the hope alive that I will see them again.
May you all have a wonderfully blessed holiday.
God, I pray so.
“Heart attack cookies” made me laugh out loud! How true.
So sorry for the struggles you are facing right now. I hope you felt the love of Jesus this Christmas.
