Walk

Wait – Renew – Fly – Run – Walk

May 8, 2018 by admin 24 Comments

Yesterday at church the overhead screen connection was not working properly – I am one of those who still carries her Bible to worship every week. There’s just something about paper, highlighter, penned notes in margins — I think most of you will “get that.” Maybe not all services require note-taking but our new… [Read More]

watch what you drop

January 22, 2014 by admin 20 Comments

It was one of those perfect South Florida December days, when the sky resembles the Caribbean Ocean with big white wisps of whipped cream floating by, and being with my one and only sibling sister made it all the more special. We were taking a morning walk, through her neighborhood, with Sam my dog on… [Read More]

altar-altered

August 28, 2013 by admin 10 Comments

Have you been altar-altered? I was. In 1992 I came up off my knees and never looked back. After years of mud baths and prodigal living, and then a couple of years of playing church, Holy Spirit invaded my life and convicted me of several things and, as they say, the rest is history! Have… [Read More]

roots & roots

July 31, 2013 by admin 7 Comments

Summer mode continues and blogging mode is less wordy but, nevertheless, meaningful! Roots and roots. Making sure theirs are solid as a rock. Strong and wide and deep. Advice from a tree: Stand tall. Go out on a limb. Remember your roots. Drink plenty of water. Enjoy the view.  Bear Grylls   xo   …and… [Read More]

are you thirsty?

July 10, 2013 by admin 11 Comments

I was cleaning up around the kitchen sink last night and on the window sill I have a small bowl which is a catch-all for stray bottle caps, etc. It needed cleaning out – two caps in the trash and at the bottom of the bowl was a black soda cap with the question, “Are… [Read More]

when pondering becomes wandering

June 19, 2013 by admin 23 Comments

I am committed to a Wednesday blog posting – I think because I have invested time and money in a blogsite, I should be committed to fresh material at least weekly. My personal opinion – no darts being thrown here! So, on Tuesdays I usually begin focusing on the post. I always say to the… [Read More]

checklist

October 5, 2012 by admin 5 Comments

Sharpshooter is a competition shooter – throughout the year he packs up his arsenal and travels to a “Shoot”. I made him a checklist and we keep them in the kitchen and every time he begins preparing his stuff, he gets a clean form out and begins checking things off. Here’s his list: [ ]… [Read More]

feet

August 15, 2012 by admin 9 Comments

I like pretty feet.  Although I don’t have pretty feet I do try to take care of my feet – I consider them an important part of my well-being! My point is this – I am NOT obsessed by my or anyone else’s feet. So, it was kind of weird several years ago when Holy… [Read More]

Vision Every gardener, every writer, has a vision. Vision
Every gardener, every writer, has a vision. In gardening we envision fresh salads, delicious el dante French green beans, and juicy tomato sandwiches. 🍅 As a writer my vision is legacy. My story is one of peaks and valleys, potholes and narrow paths. There are chapters of shame and there are chapters of victory. God has used every single jot and tittle for my good and His glory. See that stack of books on the shelf? That's VISION. That's LEGACY.

Commitment Gardening takes commitment.. if you're Commitment
Gardening takes commitment.. if you're not in it to win it there's no sense in starting. Writing takes the same commitment. Currently, I have a partially completed work in progress. It's called "my brother is a saint." Right now I'm in a season of 'dry' but I'm still committed. See the first picture? It is a photo of Civil War dated garlic. 32 years ago hubs dug up 5 cloves in a field in Harpersville Alabama known for its Civil War / slavery roots. He carefully propagated it and has shared bulbs with many gardeners. That is commitment. My work in progress will get completed - I am committed.

Routine Writing, like gardening, requires routine. Routine
Writing, like gardening, requires routine. Every morning Farmer Hubster walks around the garden pruning, dead-heading, tying, and all the things it takes to have an abundant harvest. Writing requires time spent in reading, research, and WRITING. A popular author once said, "if you want to be a writer then you must write something every day." I attempt to do that. I like the routine of writing ✍️. #hopewriterlife
