Tasty Tuesday: November Means Thanksgiving

November 7, 2017 by admin 2 Comments

November means thanks-giving and celery isn’t just for stuffing any longer, Louise! That made no sense but for some reason sounded funny to me. My number one favorite holiday is this month and we are going to give it a lot of attention. Last year we focused on thanksgiving dinner side dishes and we… [Read More]

Tasty Tuesday: A Farewell to Soup!

October 31, 2017 by admin 4 Comments

Closing the month with a funny! Ha! Ha! Ha! As I’m writing this post the smell of beef stew is wafting up the staircase – that gorgeous aroma of Thyme! When the wind is blowing, the temps dropping, and the socks are fuzzy there is nothing quite like a pot full of something tasty and… [Read More]

Tasty Tuesday: More October Soups!

October 10, 2017 by admin 8 Comments

Soup’s On… I don’t know what it is about chopping onions, celery, garlic and other vegetables to make soup that makes me happy – but happiness it creates. Perhaps it’s the thought of a chilly night and a comforting cuppa soup. Something creamy or chunky or noodley! I’m not picky at all about my soup…. [Read More]

Tasty Tuesday: Supa-Dupa Zuppa

October 3, 2017 by admin 14 Comments

I saw a famous man eating soup. I say he was lifting a fat broth Into his mouth with a spoon. His name was in the newspapers that day Spelled out in tall black headlines And thousands of people were talking about him. When I saw him, He sat bending his head over a plate… [Read More]

Tasty Tuesday: Lentils

September 12, 2017 by admin Leave a Comment

Several years ago at one of our girlfriend lunch days my friend, Alice, served us the most unusual meal! She fixed the same meal that David ate as he ran away from Absalom. We had barley, leeks (onions), lentils, and she also served lamb chops. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten!… [Read More]

Tasty Tuesday: The Journey – Food for Life and Health

August 29, 2017 by admin 4 Comments

We’ve all heard the saying, “You are what you eat!” I’m not sure about the truth in that because, if true, I’d be a leaf of lettuce with legs! My good friend and I jokingly say, “We hope the good Lord doesn’t put us in charge of the lettuce patch in heaven because we’ve eaten… [Read More]

August 22, 2017 by admin 7 Comments

We have two more weeks on our journey to a meatless August and food for life and health! Hubs and I have been eating meat-free since July 11th and it is going quite well. I know I feel really good and I zipped up a pair of shorts for the first time this summer! That’s… [Read More]

Hubs was tending his garden bed out in the corner of the common area and almost stepped on this Momma lake turtle, laying her eggs. He went away and returned hours later and found she had dampened the area and laid sticks on top! He framed it out in pic 3. 60 day incubation and then all those wee turtles will find their way back to the lake!!! How cool is that? #lakelife #tinyhousebiglife #fromfarmtoflat2tinyhouse
Yellow doors scream, "You are welcome here! Come i Yellow doors scream, "You are welcome here! Come in! Rest and peace are found within these doors!" 5 years ago this month we left this house, our home for 30 years. We raised one son here, and for A LOT of summers, the old squeaky screendoor opened and closed with the joy of grandkids. Fireflies, a front porch bat, pussycats, dogs, goats, turkeys, and oinkers grazed the 14 acres. The ring of a blacksmith's anvil clanged for years as my husband designed and created beautiful ironwork. The best goat cheese hung from cheesecloth in its kitchen. Puzzles took shape on the old dining table, and Mexican Train domino challenges snaked along its patina'd surface. Blueberries were picked. Grapes simmered and bubbled into homebrew! But seasons change. Kids grow and leave home. We grew and left. Happy memories. Love grew there, and for that, we are forever blessed. Sweet, sweet memories.
