Tasty Tuesday: July is all about QUINOA!

July 4, 2017 by admin 6 Comments

Quinoa, pronounced keen-wah, has great potential in the kitchen and in our day-to-day nutritional intake. I love it and use it a lot. It is good hot or cold and the secret is to add lots of great flavor to it with other ingredients. It is a protein champion. Tasty Tuesday is going to feature… [Read More]

May 23, 2017 by admin 5 Comments

Summer hasn’t arrived yet but its warmth has! And, that means a cool kitchen and salads!!! This recipe was in my Country Door catalog and sounds like something we would like on a hot summer evening. Tasty Tuesday: Everyone Loves Marni’s Caesar Salad

May 9, 2017 by admin 3 Comments

We are the crunch family – we like crispy, crunchy food – not fried food, but crunchy! And, we eat a lot of greens: kale, Romaine, spinach, arugula, iceberg, spring mix – if it’s green and has a crunch? We eat it! A salad that is always requested is my daughter’s Caesar. In honor of… [Read More]

tasty tuesday: thanksgiving sides

November 8, 2016 by admin 5 Comments

We have this print hanging in our dining room – it is definitely one of my all-time faves! Such simplicity. A bowl, bread, knife, and a Bible. Broken bread and Living Bread! And, a prayer of gratitude and thanks-giving. [Today, this man is praying 2 Chronicles 7.14 for the election!] This week’s Quietude post I… [Read More]

tasty tuesday: cucumbers!

August 30, 2016 by admin 3 Comments

So, why am I posting cucumber salad recipes in late August? Because, in mid-July, after not planting a garden this past spring I yearned for a cucumber and planted 8 seeds in a big black pot and I am now getting a bumper crop! I trellised the vines and these are the epitome of a… [Read More]

I finally wrote something today. I'm not one to ju I finally wrote something today. I'm not one to just write words for the sake of writing. They have to have meaning, purpose. These were inspired by my June discipline of reading 5 psalms a day. Way back at chapter 37 David penned some pretty profound do's and don't's. They have been simmering for a couple of weeks. They're ready now. Hopehearthome dot com.
