Mary and Martha

Mary & Martha

Mary and Martha At the Home of Martha and Mary 38 As Jesus and His disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all… [Read More]

Five Minute Friday: Sacrifice

January 17, 2020 by admin 23 Comments

FMF Sacrifice

Kate said Sacrifice The first and foremost thought when I saw the word prompt was… Jesus’ redemptive work on Calvary. The Sacrifice of all sacrifices, amen? Do I sacrifice? Probably not very often, if I am honest with myself and you. Do any of us…really? Most of us live in the land of abundance and… [Read More]

Hi-Ho Hi-Ho It’s Off To Write We Go!

April 30, 2019 by admin 36 Comments

Not me, Lord.

When you feel like laying it down. Stick a fork in me, I’m done! And, so my Tuesday morning rolled on. Tuesday’s are writing days for me but today? I just couldn’t get passed graduation invites, photos, addresses, and pretty postage stamps! Then lunch time came and it dawned on me I did not have… [Read More]

Quietude: April 1, 2018

Jesus Lamb of God; Jesus is our Sacrifice All of us have titles: daughter, sister, Mom, Grandma, Aunt, wife; God has literally hundreds of titles: The Rock, The I Am, Lily of the Valley, Bright and Morning Star, Friend, and the list is long! *Jesus is the Fulfillment of the whole sacrificial system especially as… [Read More]

A Prelude to Lent

February 22, 2017 by admin 22 Comments

Why Lent? To that question, I answer with another question (I know you aren’t supposed to do that!)… Why not Lent? People who know “things” say if you do something or not do something for 40 days, it becomes habit. I am uncertain what I am going to deny myself of this Lenten Season –… [Read More]

Drum Rolls and Confetti! A Book is Born!

February 15, 2017 by admin 46 Comments

I gave birth to my ninth baby this week….I mean book. Bringing life to a book is a lot like childbirth! This baby, I mean book, has been planned-for about three years – let me explain. About three years ago the Lord planted this big seed in me and called it 40 days of Lent, I… [Read More]

the lenten season – a repost

March 5, 2014 by admin 18 Comments

I used to think only those of a certain denomination celebrated the Lenten season by abstaining from something loved for 40 days. And then several years ago I went to an Ash Wednesday service and left with a garden marker that says Deny myself – Determination – Luke 9:23 – Lent 2006. The scripture reference… [Read More]

obedience vs sacrifice

May 15, 2013 by admin 6 Comments

My cyber-friend made a new devotional available a week or so ago, The Middle: Devotions for the Journey Through, by Deidra Lawson Manning, and, I have truly enjoyed the entries. They are not lengthy but “just enough” with good scripture references at the end and some serious insights to chew on. I love when writers are… [Read More]

Vision Every gardener, every writer, has a vision. Vision
Every gardener, every writer, has a vision. In gardening we envision fresh salads, delicious el dante French green beans, and juicy tomato sandwiches. 🍅 As a writer my vision is legacy. My story is one of peaks and valleys, potholes and narrow paths. There are chapters of shame and there are chapters of victory. God has used every single jot and tittle for my good and His glory. See that stack of books on the shelf? That's VISION. That's LEGACY.

Commitment Gardening takes commitment.. if you're Commitment
Gardening takes commitment.. if you're not in it to win it there's no sense in starting. Writing takes the same commitment. Currently, I have a partially completed work in progress. It's called "my brother is a saint." Right now I'm in a season of 'dry' but I'm still committed. See the first picture? It is a photo of Civil War dated garlic. 32 years ago hubs dug up 5 cloves in a field in Harpersville Alabama known for its Civil War / slavery roots. He carefully propagated it and has shared bulbs with many gardeners. That is commitment. My work in progress will get completed - I am committed.

Routine Writing, like gardening, requires routine. Routine
Writing, like gardening, requires routine. Every morning Farmer Hubster walks around the garden pruning, dead-heading, tying, and all the things it takes to have an abundant harvest. Writing requires time spent in reading, research, and WRITING. A popular author once said, "if you want to be a writer then you must write something every day." I attempt to do that. I like the routine of writing ✍️. #hopewriterlife
