follow the light – lessons to learn from the croods

February 26, 2014 by admin 24 Comments

The Croods is an entertaining, family-friendly, computer-animated movie – my husband laughs uncontrollably at some of the lines while I scribble notes. I rewind to get the quotes correctly, and rewind again – in other words, I’m no fun to watch a movie with! The Croods, a caveman family with members: father (Grug), mother (Ugga),… [Read More]

brave – the movie

July 12, 2012 by admin 5 Comments

My grandkids and I went to see Brave yesterday. Another spectacular Disney Pixar Production. I don’t know about you, but Pixar absolutely draws me in and I begin believing these little munchkin characters are real people! The movie is set in a “tribal” Scotland – Merida, the beautiful red-haired princess is about to be married to… [Read More]

O! be careful little eyes what you see! O! be careful little ears what you hear! There’s a Father up above & He’s looking down in love O! be careful little eyes what you see! I am going to go out on a limb here and not worry about offending anyone but rather will speak… [Read More]

my favorite love story

February 10, 2012 by admin 20 Comments

A Walk In The Clouds (1995)… Is my favorite all-time, romantic movie. I (probably) watch it once every two years. There are a couple of scenes that may raise an eyebrow, but I am 61 years old and can handle them! Why, you ask, do I love this movie? A couple of reasons. I absolutely… [Read More]

Kate said green I am entering the room reciting a Kate said green

I am entering the room reciting a poem – one of my favorite reads when my children were small. Ready?

Green eggs and ham? I do not Like them, Sam-I-am. Could you, would you, With a goat? I would not, Could not. With a goat! Would you, could you, On a boat? I could not, would not, on a boat. I will not, will not, with a goat. I will not eat them in the rain. I will not eat them on a train. Not in the dark! Not in a tree! – Dr. Seuss

What a cynical world we live in. I will never stop quoting Dr. Seuss. And, if I ever have another grandchild? They will be read the wonderful lyrics of Dr. Seuss.

Green

I happen to like the color green – for me it represents life and growth. Green grass. Green trees. Green turtles. Each filled with life. I like green. It’s my cousin’s favorite color. Her family home was full of green!

Green Hope

And, I will end my five minute essay with “MY” verse. The HOPE verse that changed me. It’s from the Message translation…

Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! Romans 15.13

What does green conjure up in you?
