RUTH Part Two

A Spirit of Hope I want to share why I love the story of Ruth in the Old Testament book bearing her name. Ruth had an uncanny courage and a true spirit of hope. She refused to give up. Another reason? My daughter-in-law calls me her Naomi; wherever I go she wants to come along!!!… [Read More]

Eve The Mother of All

The Mother of All Eve, the woman formed from the side of man, Adam-man. The woman who was created IN the Garden of Eden amidst the beauty, peace, and serenity of a well-tended place. Her very name means “life giver.” The first female who has gotten ridiculed since the beginning of time. Eve has been… [Read More]

Ruth - Part One

The story begins with a bad decision A certain man of Bethlehem, Elimilech, his wife Naomi, and their two sons Mahlon and Chilion left Bethlehem, “the house of bread,” and moved to Moab because of a severe famine. God did NOT tell Elimilech to go – he got scared and went. While in Moab, his… [Read More]

Motherhood – Bathsheba

Bathsheba

Bath – sheba There are two women in the Bible, who in my opinion, get a bad rap for things that happened TO them rather than things or behaviors they actually performed. One is Bathsheba. One is Mary Magdalene. Today, we are talking about Bath-sheba. You see, her problem began with an innocent bath. In… [Read More]

Esther - Part Two

Back to cousin Mordecai Read Part One here. Cousin Mordecai “sat at the gate” of the king’s palace – this was a place of importance. Legal matters and business transactions were handled at the gate. Whoever sat at the gate was privy to plans and plots and one day two of the king’s eunuchs were… [Read More]

Motherhood - Hannah

Unhappy Hannah Hannah was at the end of herself. She was married to Elkanah – so was Peninnah. What? Yes, you read that right. Elkanah had TWO wives. And, to make matters worse, Peninnah was able to have children and had several, yet Hannah was barren. In 800 B.C. if you did not give your… [Read More]

Esther - Part One

Esther, also known as Hadassah This past weekend we heard an extraordinary message at church. I think the title of it was, “The Pressure to Perform.” And, as I pondered which woman would be my next focus in this series, Queen Esther came to mind. Esther shows up in Biblical history approximately 465-475 B.C…. [Read More]

Kate said FRESH Here we go again! Adjective Adv Kate said FRESH

Here we go again!

Adjective Adverb Noun

The Very First

thing that went through my mind this morning?

Don’t be so fresh.

That is what my mom would say to anyone who said something crass, off-color, or…well, FRESH!
My mom was a character – my friend calls people like my mom, “Catbirds!”
I’m not even sure where my mom’s version of fresh fits in. Any help is appreciated!

Fresh

I do like the idea of something smelling fresh.
A fresh coat of paint.
A fresh outlook.
A fresh perspective.
It is fresh on my palette (regarding taste).
Sheets hung on the clothesline smell so fresh!

Look what I found…

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; He is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him.” Psalm 92.14-15

So…

At this point, on this dreary Friday morning – I am going to go have a fresh cuppa coffee. And, I intend to remain fresh and green, bearing fruit in my old age!!!
