November 3, 2020 by admin 22 Comments

Do You Remember? When Jesus was selecting His disciples? He found Philip in Bethsaida and invited him to, “Follow Me.” It is believed that Philip immediately went to his friend Nathaniel, aka as Bartholomew, and excitedly told him that he had found The Man that Moses and the prophets had prophesied about, Jesus of Nazareth,… [Read More]

Tasty Tuesday: November Means Thanksgiving

November 7, 2017 by admin 2 Comments

November means thanks-giving and celery isn’t just for stuffing any longer, Louise! That made no sense but for some reason sounded funny to me. My number one favorite holiday is this month and we are going to give it a lot of attention. Last year we focused on thanksgiving dinner side dishes and we… [Read More]

Quietude: July 2nd, 2017

July 2, 2017 by admin Leave a Comment

Who doesn’t like the 4th of July! America is 241-years old on Tuesday and we need to be waving flags, lighting sparklers, shouting happy birthday because we get to live here. We get to live in a free country that has been so graced and blessed by Almighty God that we should be on our… [Read More]

Pause by Hannah – Guest Post

December 21, 2016 by admin 38 Comments

This morning I finished my coffee in the kitchen and slipped quietly into the living room. I laid down on the sofa listening to the battery-operated Santa play the same four tunes over and over again. I lay there admiring the decorated Christmas tree and searching for my name among all the presents underneath. Christmas this year… [Read More]

O! Taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusts in Him. Psalm 34.8 November conjures thoughts of gratefulness, thanks-giving, food, family, friends, and gathering around the table. I actually love Thanksgiving, the holiday, more than I like Christmas. There’s something about celebration without expectation. The gathering around a table… [Read More]

thank you

On Saturday morning I dropped my husband off at the salon and was on my way to a town 30 minutes away to pick up our grandchildren for the weekend. I had some time to waste so I went into the local Goodwill store – it’s fun to look around, and I love the book… [Read More]

Kate said green I am entering the room reciting a Kate said green

I am entering the room reciting a poem – one of my favorite reads when my children were small. Ready?

Green eggs and ham? I do not Like them, Sam-I-am. Could you, would you, With a goat? I would not, Could not. With a goat! Would you, could you, On a boat? I could not, would not, on a boat. I will not, will not, with a goat. I will not eat them in the rain. I will not eat them on a train. Not in the dark! Not in a tree! – Dr. Seuss

What a cynical world we live in. I will never stop quoting Dr. Seuss. And, if I ever have another grandchild? They will be read the wonderful lyrics of Dr. Seuss.

Green

I happen to like the color green – for me it represents life and growth. Green grass. Green trees. Green turtles. Each filled with life. I like green. It’s my cousin’s favorite color. Her family home was full of green!

Green Hope

And, I will end my five minute essay with “MY” verse. The HOPE verse that changed me. It’s from the Message translation…

Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! Romans 15.13

What does green conjure up in you?
