What are we missing?

The thing about writing is we must be fully engaged with life in order to write. Maybe that isn’t so if you are a fiction writer with a wild, creative imagination; however, for me? I can take a walk and get writing material. So it was a week or so ago when I went to… [Read More]

Going Down a Rabbit Trail or Three

Let's Take a Rabbit Trail or 3

Rabbit Trail 1 There was a lot of buzz on the Facebook airwaves yesterday about women in ministry, purpose, platform, and 99 etcetera’s. I found it fruitful and thought-provoking especially due to a message I heard (online) from Liberty University’s all-female convocation speaker, Melanie Denney. I think Melanie is a senior and a student shepherd…. [Read More]

The Distraction of Dings, Pings, and Rings

February 14, 2018 by admin 40 Comments

The last time Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s crossed paths on the very same day was back in 1945! Even I wasn’t born yet! Today, one might find red hearts and ashen crosses! The Lenten practice is an exercise of discipline. In 2017 I wrote a book called the 40 Days of Lent. It is a… [Read More]

Kate said FRESH Here we go again! Adjective Adv Kate said FRESH

Here we go again!

Adjective Adverb Noun

The Very First

thing that went through my mind this morning?

Don’t be so fresh.

That is what my mom would say to anyone who said something crass, off-color, or…well, FRESH!
My mom was a character – my friend calls people like my mom, “Catbirds!”
I’m not even sure where my mom’s version of fresh fits in. Any help is appreciated!

Fresh

I do like the idea of something smelling fresh.
A fresh coat of paint.
A fresh outlook.
A fresh perspective.
It is fresh on my palette (regarding taste).
Sheets hung on the clothesline smell so fresh!

Look what I found…

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; He is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him.” Psalm 92.14-15

So…

At this point, on this dreary Friday morning – I am going to go have a fresh cuppa coffee. And, I intend to remain fresh and green, bearing fruit in my old age!!!
