Tasty Tuesday: Sweet Potato Side TO WOW!

November 21, 2017 by admin 4 Comments

♫♫♫We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing. He hastens and chastens His will to obey! ♫♫♫ It’s the big week. Families gather around a table and eat until their stomachs hurt! Then they slouch in the living room and vegetate around the television. Sounds painful, eh? Our table will be full on Thursday –… [Read More]

Tasty Tuesdays: Bursting with Sides!

November 14, 2017 by admin 4 Comments

If truth be told – you could ditch the bird and just fill the table with side dishes. THAT’s where the flavors are – now don’t get me wrong we will have turkey, one traditionally roasted and one, deep-fried! Yet, in my book? The Sides take it. This week I’m working on the “questions” that… [Read More]

Tasty Tuesday: November Means Thanksgiving

November 7, 2017 by admin 2 Comments

November means thanks-giving and celery isn’t just for stuffing any longer, Louise! That made no sense but for some reason sounded funny to me. My number one favorite holiday is this month and we are going to give it a lot of attention. Last year we focused on thanksgiving dinner side dishes and we… [Read More]

Tasty Tuesday: More Quinoa!

July 11, 2017 by admin 2 Comments

Quinoa, Quinoa – how I love thee Let me count the ways… Salads, soups, cassoullettes… On any given day! You don’t even have to “like” Quinoa because the best way to use it is disguised as something else! If you want to pack nine good-for-you, healthy amino acids into the people you are feeding? Just… [Read More]

tasty tuesday: more thanksgiving sides

November 15, 2016 by admin 4 Comments

We are still talking all things THANKSGIVING! Today, two more side dishes for you to consider on your menu! A gluten-free stuffing and Copper Pennies! I’m not a huge carrot fan but this side dish is good; you par-cook the carrots so they aren’t crunchy and they are somewhat “pickled” in a very good way. I… [Read More]

tasty tuesday: green grape salad

March 15, 2016 by admin 4 Comments

Have you ever eaten something new and think to yourself, “Oh my word, I have to make this!” So it was several years ago when we went to a fellowship meal at our church. Shay, one of my most favorite people on earth, made this and I guess there is no other way to put… [Read More]

tasty tuesday: Italian veggie zuppa

November 3, 2015 by admin 2 Comments

When the hubs comes in the door after a long day of working, his normal comment is, “Something smells good – that Susie’s made soup!” He loves soup. My soup! When someone likes what you make, it is natural to want to make it again, or another version, or a totally new recipe to… [Read More]

Vision Every gardener, every writer, has a vision. Vision
Every gardener, every writer, has a vision. In gardening we envision fresh salads, delicious el dante French green beans, and juicy tomato sandwiches. 🍅 As a writer my vision is legacy. My story is one of peaks and valleys, potholes and narrow paths. There are chapters of shame and there are chapters of victory. God has used every single jot and tittle for my good and His glory. See that stack of books on the shelf? That's VISION. That's LEGACY.

Commitment Gardening takes commitment.. if you're Commitment
Gardening takes commitment.. if you're not in it to win it there's no sense in starting. Writing takes the same commitment. Currently, I have a partially completed work in progress. It's called "my brother is a saint." Right now I'm in a season of 'dry' but I'm still committed. See the first picture? It is a photo of Civil War dated garlic. 32 years ago hubs dug up 5 cloves in a field in Harpersville Alabama known for its Civil War / slavery roots. He carefully propagated it and has shared bulbs with many gardeners. That is commitment. My work in progress will get completed - I am committed.

Routine Writing, like gardening, requires routine. Routine
Writing, like gardening, requires routine. Every morning Farmer Hubster walks around the garden pruning, dead-heading, tying, and all the things it takes to have an abundant harvest. Writing requires time spent in reading, research, and WRITING. A popular author once said, "if you want to be a writer then you must write something every day." I attempt to do that. I like the routine of writing ✍️. #hopewriterlife
