January 24, 2018 by admin 63 Comments

Photo by: Debby Hudson We spent this past weekend with our grandkids: Hannah, 21 (on 1.21.18), and Simon, 14+ (15 on 5.28.18). To say we enjoy our time with these two is the understatement of the century! We love to. We got to Liberty University campus about noon on Saturday, picked up our girl and… [Read More]

Quietude January 21, 2018

January 21, 2018 by admin 10 Comments

This winter, Quietude will feature ten titles of God. All of us have titles: daughter, sister, Mom, Grandma, Aunt, wife; God has literally hundreds of titles: The Rock, The I Am, Lily of the Valley, Bright and Morning Star, Friend, and the list is long! We will look at ten, maybe 12, in as many… [Read More]

Rev It Up

January 3, 2018 by admin 45 Comments

Regardless of what term we call it, our daily time with the Lord is extremely special and crucial to our everyday walk with… [Read More]

five minute friday: build

July 8, 2016 by admin 25 Comments

Last night’s party was quite good. Chocolate brownies, oh wait, they were for someone’s husband! There was a chocolate (or was it vanilla?) frozen frappe being passed around with multiple straws. There was joy. There was grief. There was a migraine. There was kudos and congrats. There was a new smartphone owner, oh wait, that… [Read More]

taking the next thing to a whole new level

April 18, 2016 by admin 2 Comments

Years ago Elisabeth Elliot quoted a poem on her radio show that resonated with her listeners and changed the way women handled stresses in their day-to-day lives. The poem, “Do the Next Thing,” is penned by an unknown writer, yet the message has become universal. You can read the poem here. Ms. Elliot was no… [Read More]

five minute friday: easy

April 15, 2016 by admin 27 Comments

Parties are fun, amen? Last night’s was no exception. It had all the right elements for a good time. Lots of people. Lots of conversation. Lots of craziness (who doesn’t need a little crazy on a Thursday night?). Our host, Kate Motaung, made a flash appearance then disappeared for a bit – she had Five… [Read More]

Even retired, I love weekends. Sunny and warm for Even retired, I love weekends. Sunny and warm for us is a bonus! This particular weekend is sweet and sorrow mixed. We get to travel a couple of hours with Gracee in tow, Lowell gets to see his civil war armaments comrades, and we will have lots of time with favorite grandson, Simon. But, we also bear the sorrow of missing our friend, Jimmy Reavis, at his celebration of life. James left this earth on March 13th after a battle with cancer, chemo, and its horrid side effects. It's a weekend of hello's and good-bye's. Life is like that, isn't it? I'm so grateful for the Hope my faith provides. Cannot imagine a weekend like this without it. 💔 ❤️
