testimony tuesday (a few ramblings)

November 18, 2014 by admin 6 Comments

When I did the 31-day writing challenge last month I wasn’t sure if it would be like “old news”. My journey of Hope has been long and arduous, and, of course, because I am a real person with a real life, the journey continues every single day with every single breath. In fact yesterday was… [Read More]

five minute friday – turn

November 7, 2014 by admin 10 Comments

Taking that 5-minute challenge. One word. Five minutes. Go! I will never forget the night God spoke deep. It was 1984 in LaClede Idaho. Around a bonfire. On a very dark night. My mind was fuzzy with illegal substance. The flames danced and what I saw in them was. Ugly. Frightening. Death. The word He… [Read More]

god’s will and some random thoughts

June 12, 2013 by admin 13 Comments

When my children were little I read and re-read the book, “The Best Nest”, it was our favorite story and of course with great animation and hearts of joy we gave melody to Mrs. Bird’s proclamation at the end of the book: ♫ I love my house, I love my nest, in all the world,… [Read More]

bear with me – please

“Then Aslan stopped, and the children looked into the stream. And there, on the golden gravel of the bed of the stream, lay King Caspian, dead, with the water flowing over him like liquid glass. His long white beard swayed in it like water-weed. And all three stood and wept. Even the Lion wept: great… [Read More]

they sing

August 9, 2012 by admin 8 Comments

The other night my grandson and I were walking the family dog and he found a dead cicada at the base of a big old tree. All around us we could hear the song of hundreds of cicadas – that beautiful, recognizable, cricket-like chirping.  I told my grandson about the life cycle of the insect… [Read More]

I’m not sure who the experts are in the autumn ranking field but “they” have given Fall 2011 a ranking of nine in a range of one to ten. I won’t argue. The colors began peaking the weekend of the 8th and this past weekend wasn’t too shabby either. Another rainfall with wind will most… [Read More]

the one thing we can count on is … things change!

October 12, 2011 by admin 2 Comments

Some resist it. Some love it. Some fight it. Some welcome it. Personally, I love change – it means God is up to something and since all good things come from Him – let it roll! Of course there are difficult changes; the death of a loved one, a bad report from your doctor, and… [Read More]

10 unchangeables

September 24, 2011 by admin 4 Comments

There are a lot of things in our life that we can do something about. We can change the color of our hair. We can change our weight. We can change our clothes. We can change our environment. We can even change our attitude! Yet, in God’s perfect design, there are ten immutables. Ten unchangeable… [Read More]

Even retired, I love weekends. Sunny and warm for Even retired, I love weekends. Sunny and warm for us is a bonus! This particular weekend is sweet and sorrow mixed. We get to travel a couple of hours with Gracee in tow, Lowell gets to see his civil war armaments comrades, and we will have lots of time with favorite grandson, Simon. But, we also bear the sorrow of missing our friend, Jimmy Reavis, at his celebration of life. James left this earth on March 13th after a battle with cancer, chemo, and its horrid side effects. It's a weekend of hello's and good-bye's. Life is like that, isn't it? I'm so grateful for the Hope my faith provides. Cannot imagine a weekend like this without it. 💔 ❤️
