Five Minute Friday: Table

March 6, 2020 by admin 19 Comments

The Table

The Table I grew up in the Plymouth Brethren Church. We actually didn’t call it a church – we called it the “Assembly.” We didn’t have one pastor, we had men that served as teachers, preachers and the such. Women taught Sunday School. Our Grandpa was SS Superintendent, which gave my sister and I special… [Read More]

Five Minute Friday: RAIN

Five Minute Friday - RAIN!

Kate said, “RAIN.” Here in Statesville, NC, we need some. We lived in the mountains of northwest North Carolina, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Appalachian Mountain Range – also known as the eastern Rain Forest, for thirty years. And, it rained all the time. We went days without seeing the sun and for… [Read More]

Five Minute Friday DONE!

I haven’t participated in Five Minute Friday in weeks – I haven’t even peeked into the Twitter party or the Facebook group page – we have been very, very busy moving. This morning I stalked Kate and saw that she said, “Done,” last night. NOW, this word I can relate to… Stick a fork in… [Read More]

Five Minute Friday: SECRET

Secret Five Minute Friday

Kate said, “SECRET.” I love this photograph – look at the little girl’s eyes! She seems to be delighting in her mom’s secret. I wonder what Mom is telling her. Don’t tell your brother but we are going to have a special girl’s day today. Shhh. You cannot say a word. It’s a secret between… [Read More]

Five Minute Friday: INCLUDE

May 11, 2018 by admin 17 Comments

Kate said, “Include.” This morning I woke up, got coffee, came upstairs to do my FMF post. When I saw the word “include” I thought to myself this may be hard. I went over to Unsplash because I get inspiration from the photos and I searched the word “alone.” Isn’t it odd that alone is the word I… [Read More]

Five Minute Friday: STUCK

April 27, 2018 by admin 25 Comments

Kate said, “STUCK.” 00:00 Most of you know the theme of my life since late 2002 has been HOPE. I’m stuck on it. Like glue. Are you stuck? In a rut? Out of luck? Can’t get out? No need to pout! I’ve got something for you – it’s invisible but it is ever so real…. [Read More]

Five Minute Friday: TURN

April 20, 2018 by admin 8 Comments

Kate said, “TURN.” 00:00 A series of essayettes! Turn your life around. There are times when God comes in and holds that stop sign or perhaps a yield sign and so loudly you hear Him say, IT IS TIME YOU TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND. You can read about that here. *** God allow U-TURNS. Yes,… [Read More]

Kate said FRESH Here we go again! Adjective Adv Kate said FRESH

Here we go again!

Adjective Adverb Noun

The Very First

thing that went through my mind this morning?

Don’t be so fresh.

That is what my mom would say to anyone who said something crass, off-color, or…well, FRESH!
My mom was a character – my friend calls people like my mom, “Catbirds!”
I’m not even sure where my mom’s version of fresh fits in. Any help is appreciated!

Fresh

I do like the idea of something smelling fresh.
A fresh coat of paint.
A fresh outlook.
A fresh perspective.
It is fresh on my palette (regarding taste).
Sheets hung on the clothesline smell so fresh!

Look what I found…

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; He is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him.” Psalm 92.14-15

So…

At this point, on this dreary Friday morning – I am going to go have a fresh cuppa coffee. And, I intend to remain fresh and green, bearing fruit in my old age!!!
