summer thyme

July 27, 2011 by admin 12 Comments

The past two days have been what summer is supposed to be. I just can’t say it enough,

“I LOVE SUMMER.”

The breeze is gentle.

The temps are near perfect – 83 degrees.

The grass is mowed.

The garlic is harvested.

The porch is clean.

The fountain is flowing.

The creek is babbling.

The flowers are blooming.

The zucchini are growing.

The cucumber vines are fruit-laden.

The tomatoes are thriving.

The chard is beautiful.

The basil is flourishing.

The parsley is useable.

The birds are singing.

God is on His throne.

Selah…

The birds are singing. God is on His throne. Selah…

Oh I just love this one! Summer is just being lazy on the back porch, and listening to the sounds of the woods. Love this recipe, especially on a fresh salad from my garden. Thank you Susi!!

Where is this summer? Mine doesn’t seem at all as serene or beautiful as this one. To me, you just described summer in Heaven.

The squash has withered to its death.

The zucchini is catching up quickly to its fair skinned cousin.

The cucumbers have long since been forgotten as they developed into odd fruits of sorts.

The tomatoes are stunning in their apple green color that doesn’t seem to want to change into their brilliant shade of crimson, that’s now going on weeks since maturity.

The mosquito quite literally has sucked the blood out of this garden gal till the thought of swatting at another one is too much to bear.

The reality of garden earth in Statesville.

Oh what I would do for 83! 😉 It’s triple digits here, for as far out as the forecast goes… and sadly – fires already in our area. (We are usually a high risk in the later summer months!) You know how I love my patio time but when the overnight low is in the upper 70s, well – the a/c kicks on before I get out of bed!
