That’s what the banner spelled out!
It was a mid-summer celebration of girlfriends! About one month ago I sent an email to about 25 women I consider a good friend, asking them to hold July 19th open for a gathering. I received an overwhelming response…
“Count me in.”
“Marked my calendar.”
“What do I bring?”
“I’m all in.”
July 19th arrived and so did my girlfriends! We had had our grandson, Simon, with us for the week and he served as our valet parking attendant – he showed everyone where to park and since it was raining, he held the umbrella for each lady as they walked to our door. What a guy!
The dining room table soon filled with salad dishes – each person brought a salad to share. This soireé was on the economy budget! I had three different teas, coffee, and dessert for everyone! And, then we gathered, held hands and blessed our meal.
This is me with my “mystery guest”, Merry Geary! Merry & I were over-the-fence neighbors back in the early 70’s when our children were toddlers. She and her husband have a summer cabin about 90 minutes from us and I couldn’t have been more delighted that she was able to come! That gal & I have a lot of memories!
This is my daughter, Marni, the mother of our valet attendant, Simon!
And, here is Simon (with the hat on) – as a surprise, I told one of our guests to bring her son so they could hang out together. And, because our hen party needed some male influence (just NOT grown-up men)! Girl, I am wild about this boy!
And, this is our granddaughter, Hannah, an awesome server!
And, here she is again. Man, I love this girl!
How cool is this panorama shot taken with an i-phone? This was right after our drawing! Everyone was asked to bring a 99 cent item that reminded them of summer. We put the item in a brown bag, numbered them and then each person drew a number out of the basket and received the same numbered gift. Lots of creativity: a grass skirt, a pair of flip-flops, a summer spritzer, seashells, a fly swatter, Lavender soap, and not one duplicate in the mix!
Although it was a rainy, chilly day nothing dampened our spirits. We laughed, we prayed, we talked, we were ministered to, we shared – it was glorious – and I believe every single lady there went away refreshed, renewed, and encouraged. Hope you enjoyed sharing in my summer soireé!
