Our family is going through a major upheaval. The scales of our family have become unbalanced and it is a trying time for those directly affected and for this Mom. One of my morning reads is Daily Light – Anne Graham Lotz version. It is a wonderful compilation of morning and evening scriptures, each entry relating to a “theme”. I love Daily Light. It is quite normal for me not to carve out 30 – 60 minutes on weekend mornings for personal worship time, so on Monday morning I usually do catch-up reading in my DL book. On September 4th, Tuesday, after the three-day Labor Day weekend I had a sad heart as I thought about our family situation and pondering “what I could do to change it” so I sat down and opened Daily Light and I clearly heard the Spirit speak, “Do not play catch up – go directly to today’s reading.” Right there, across the top of the page of the morning reading, in bold, 12-point print was clear instruction from Father,
*Be still, my daughter…
It was one of those God postcard moments. Priority Mail. The remaining scriptures were quite clear as well:
Take heed, and be quiet; do not fear or be fainthearted. Isaiah 7.4
Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46.10
Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God? John 11.40
The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. Isaiah 2.17
Mary…sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. Luke 10.39
Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her. Luke 10.42
In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength. Isaiah 30.15
Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Psalm 4.4
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Psalm 37.7
He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established. Psalm 112.7-8
Whoever believes will not act hastily. Isaiah 28.16
I am going to trust and obey and sit still and see the salvation of the Lord.
Will you believe with me?
