Why HOPE ? Because Hope Changes Everything!
Most of you know my story of HOPE – how God dropped that word, that principle, His very own characteristic, deep within my soul in the year of 2002. If you aren’t familiar, read about it here.
HOPE is as real as the air I breathe and today, I share with you the color of hope! As I love to do, I’m taking examples from God’s Word and sharing story. Let’s get started!
Egypt, in the year 1446-50 B.C. After much debating with God, a few plagues, and a whole lot of death, Moses gathered the Israelites and left Egypt. To leave Egypt behind, and head toward the Land of Milk, Honey and HOPE, which God had promised, there was an obstacle…
The RED Sea, spread dry to give HOPE to God’s chosen people.
What’s a little water when the Creator of the Universe is leading the way? The God of Hope split the sea and they walked through it on dry land. (Exodus 14)
Jericho, in the year 1410 B.C. Moses was dead and Joshua was now in charge. Joshua was young, ambitious, and full of HOPE. Remember he is the one God said, “Be strong and of a good courage. I will not fail you nor forsake you.” (Joshua 1.5-6) Joshua sent two men to spy the land they were to enter and conquer.. The name of the town was Jericho and a woman named Rahab, made her living and had a house of lodging there. The two spies needed a place to stay the night and ran into Rahab’s Place. The bad king of Jericho found out and told Rahab she needed to turn those two “outlaws” over to him. Wise Rahab knew better and hid them from the evil king. Later on in the night, Rahab went to the men she had hidden under straw on her roof, and asked them questions about Egypt and the Red Sea and then she made this declaration, “For the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath…” And then she made them a deal. Because I hid you from the evil king, and I have been kind to you, I ask you to repay me by saving my life and the lives of my entire family when you return to destroy this city.
The two spies agreed and planned their get-away from Jericho and back to Joshua. They told Rahab to hang a line of RED cord from her window and when they came back to take the city, she and her family would be rescued. Rahab did all they told her to do and she “and all she had” were saved from destruction.
Rahab, a hooker with HOPE, saved by a RED ribbon.
Jerusalem, in the year 33 A.D. Jesus Christ of Nazareth hung on a wooden cross beam, beaten until unrecognizable, stripped naked, and a crest of thorns shoved into his head. Nine inch nails driven into his hands and feet. Wrongly accused, yet willingly crucified. He came into this world to become HOPE hung on a cross. The Word in the Gospel of John says, “But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was dead already, they didn’t break His legs; but one of the soldiers took a spear and pierced His side, and out of the wound flowed blood and water.”
Jesus, HOPE with flesh, poured out RED, to offer salvation to a world of lost souls.
2016, in the hearts of millions. Jesus Christ offers true HOPE – He is the RED cord of HOPE weaving salvation to all who will believe.
I pray you are washed in RED.
