This is my summer for reading. The Lord told me I was “watching” too much and it was time to read. For some odd reason I stopped reading about eighteen months ago and just hadn’t been able to get back into it. I have completed four books so far this summer and I am enjoying reading once again.
I find myself writing down quotes from books as I read – I’ve always done this and today I am going to post some of my favorites (these quotes don’t necessarily reflect what I’m reading this summer). More of a musing than a blog but I think you will enjoy!
…if we become the people we dreamed of being when we were young and pure and innocent, then and only then do we find our way home again. I don’t think many make it. There are just too many distractions and obstacles. Yet I’ve come to believe that the worst we can do is to give up looking for it. Tom Ryan
I always try to remember that people can’t give what they don’t have. Paige (in Following Atticus)
Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away. The Song of Songs 2.13
so that I may watch the earth receding out of sight its vastness growing smaller as I rise,
savoring its recession with delight. Anticipating joy is itself a joy.
Ruth Bell Graham (1920-2007)
Have a blessed week!
