Isaiah 26.3 was my mom’s life verse from the Old Testament and there’s no question it’s a good one, yet because of verse three I never paid too much attention to the “rest of the story” or chapter. Keeping scripture in context is key to proper understanding. The whole chapter is referring to Zion, the eternal city. One of the earliest references to “the after life” is found in verse 19 of the same chapter. It’s a chapter rich in information and truth for today.
Verse 3…He will keep in perfect peace the mind that remains focused on Him.
Verse 7…He is a God who does right and makes smooth the road of the righteous.
And, today’s scripture proves that obeying always far outweighs sacrifice in the pleasing God department.
Here are the questions to ponder on this our day of quietude:
Is my heart’s desire to glorify God or promote myself?
Do I earnestly seek God in every part of my day, night, and life?
And, to this I say, “Selah. Stop and think about it.”

I’ve recently tried to start praying the Divine Hours. It fits perfectly with this: “And, to this I say, “Selah. Stop and think about it.” Thanks for the encouragement, Susan.
Love this reflection Susan.
I love this for a “life verse”! It covers all the things I try to remember on a daily basis. Thank you for reminding me of it on the #sundaythoughts link up!
Great post, Susan. We do indeed need to look inward every day to see if it’s God we’re glorifying, or ourselves with Him as a convenient accessory.
This goes along with what I wrote about–am I running my race (of life) for myself, or joining a team and running with others?
Awesome reminder for all of us! Found you through Trekking Thru. God bless you.
Is. 26:3 is one of the first verses I can remember actually “claiming” and as a young teen and asking God to deliver on it. He did. He still does. So thankful for His ability to “keep my mind” when it needs keeping.
great post, susan. just insta’d a quote from Fenelon which fits right in . blessings (re: 31 days – what day do you post posts?) love, newbie
Wonderful reflection, Susan. Have a wonderful Sunday!
