The third Sonday in Advent is JOY, and today the one pink candle will be lit in many services.
…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12.2
Hard to think of a cruel cross during this happy, joyful season of Advent, isn’t it?
But, we must never forget that the purpose of His Advent WAS His Death.
So, today as we sing “Joy to the World, The Lord Has Come,” let us not forget why He came.
He came to:
Console those who mourn in Zion.
To exchange beauty for ashes.
To give the oil of JOY for mourning.
To give the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
So they may be called trees of righteousness.
Planted by the Lord to glorify Him.
Please, Come! And, Let Us Adore Him!
