Quietude: April 30 2017

April 30, 2017 by admin 5 Comments

What about these “conditional” promises Jesus says?

When you see an “if” in Scripture – it means “if”

You do this – I’ll do that.

There are several.

Today, the word “if” doesn’t show up in this translation but it may as well.

If you remain in Me…

The IF is for us, you and me.

He tells us He will remain with us. Period.

But, here’s the IF part…

Do you? Do I? Want to produce good, healthy fruit in our lives?

Do we want our prayers answered?

Do we want to live a victorious life?

Then we must remain IN Him, abide IN Him.

Breathe IN Him. Live IN Him.

Read the rest of John 15.1-17

You’ll learn how to do this “IN Him” thing.

The Crucified One is now The Resurrected One.

I have learned there is no IF for me – only I MUST.

The quiet hour of prayer is one of the most favorable opportunities He has in which to speak to us seriously. In quietude and solitude before the face of God our souls can hear better than at any other time. O.Hallesby
When He gives quietness, who then can make trouble? Job 34.29

Amen! I just finished listening to a sermon on 1 John. Abiding in Him, because we are His children, these thoughts fit together so well!

Remain seems like such a passive word until I think about all the grit and determination that faith requires.
    I love these quietude posts.

Kate said fix Today, I come to confess. Dun Dun D Kate said fix

Today, I come to confess.
Dun Dun Dun Dun…

I used to be a FIXER.

Family problems? Not to worry I will manage, manipulate, and fix it. The only problem? It gets expensive and very stressful.

Fixing is bad for your health.

I have learned

There is a Fixer better than myself. This Fixer can and will FIX anything and anyone IF you ask.
If you release.
If you give it up.
If you lay the object of fix on the altar of sacrifice.

Sometimes…

There is an immediate fix. Sometimes The Fixer will ask you to sit still and do nothing. Sometimes The Fixer will use you in the fix.
But THIS I know…

The Fixer really doesn’t need any help from me.

So, What Does One Do?

We pray and our prayers keep The Fixer involved, on the scene, and in the situation.

The Fixer

Do you know Him?

But may the God of all grace [THE FIXER], who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 5.10-11

Who or what are YOU trying to fix? Give them/it to The Fixer!
