Man! Did I Ever Mess Up!
I need a lesson in seasons and quarters, I guess! September is part of the third calendar quarter and I totally skipped over it. Last month I posted Q3 with a look at June, July, and August! Oops! So, let’s try it again and I’ll include September – after all we don’t want those 30 days to feel left out! So, if July and August look familiar it’s because you’ve read before – but September is brand new!!!
Let’s Look at…
July
Arrived on a very hot Wednesday! Whew! Upstate SC has a very hot season and it was during the month of July! Wonderful things happened this month! Lowell finished our back deck. We ordered a Softub Jacuzzi. We traded in two vehicles and reduced our mobile footprint to ONE new Nissan Frontier!
We spent the Fourth of July on Lake Lyman with our special and sweet friends. We drove to Asheville. We found a new fabulous place to have Sunday Brunch. We went back to real church – July was a good, good month. Enjoy the collages, which wrap it up in photos!
August
The month opened on a gorgeous Upstate South Carolina Saturday and brunch with new friends in their beautiful home. I mean, how blessed are we?! Then, on the very same day our daughter came for a sleepover!
We always enjoy these weekends with Marni. We took her for brunch at our new favorite, The Bleu Porch. And, then just like that – she went back home.
Our Indiana friends stopped in for lunch! (no photo….I must get better at this camera thing.)
Lowell surprised me one Sunday and took us kayaking!
Simon, and girlfriend Skylar, had a no-prom-night photo shoot, just because! Aren’t they beautiful?
We took rides.
When it rains here? It pours.
We got new neighbors.
Our blue bird box birthed the season’s third family.
We took Gracee out and walked in the clouds! (Chattooga Belle Farms, Long Creek, SC)
The photo of Lowell above is, what I call, his first day of school picture!!! He looked so school’ish in his sneakers and shorts! He doesn’t normally dress like this! And, that Simon (17) just keeps growing taller!
September – didn’t mean to leave you out!
September swept in and out – almost a blur. Looking back though I see we had a busier than usual month.
My day job as customer service manager for a small manufacturer was incredibly busy. We launched a new website and I spent some fun time writing copy for posts and features – I was in my happy place using words! We also have included live chat on the site and I harness most of those – I love it! It immediately answers queries and concerns from customers.
We went to Statesville for Labor Day weekend and spent quality time with family – got to have porch time with Simon and Skylar (that handsome couple in the above collage in prom clothes). Sky’, as we like to call her is one of us – she’s a perfect fit for our family. She is in nursing school – smart cookie!
We prepared the back deck for our Jacuzzi – a new electrical plug and new railings for the upper deck. Waiting patiently for its arrival!
Our weather took a plunge and we enjoyed cooler temps – they were incredibly welcome. Our tiny house village met at the local steakhouse for another group meal – those are fun! We had two new couples join us. Our village is almost full.
Two local writing friends and I met for coffee at a local bistro and chatted for FOUR hours!!! What a fun time it was.
Lowell’s cousin, Stephanie, visited us from Georgia and we had such a great time with her.
Hannah moved out of her small (first) apartment and began a new job. Lots of changes for her – but she’s up for them! Her faithful moving buddy was beau, Chandler!
And, this sweet little work in process got done:

And, now 3Q-2020 is really a wrap!

Good Morning honey, loving all the pictures and all the fun y’all are having
Aren’t they fun!
Enjoyed this very much. Love seeing all the pictures. Time goes by and everything changes so much. I can’t comprehend it all and that includes our family too. You and Lowell have been so blessed. Love to you both.
Carol, I was just saying to L this morning “if we don’t do it now – when?”
I love your quarterly reports!
Tam, I do too. They are HARD to pull together – but so worth it at the end of a year. ***teach me to number my years***
Oh Susan,
I love seeing these pics and catching up with all the good things that have come out of this year. We were also praying for clear vision for 2020, and like you mentioned, even with all the challenges of this year, those prayers are being faithfully answered, just not in the way we thought. Congratulations also on your new book!
Christina, out of the ashes, eh?
Loved reading your report and especially looking at the pictures. Keep on keepin’ on, precious one!
And, without photos to trigger my memory – I omitted our luncheon! I did go in and fix it.
Love all of your photos and recaps! And I am loving your new book. It is giving great thoughts for pausing along with the parallel Scriptures too.
Bettie, will you be so kind to leave a review on Amazon? THANK YOU.
This is so fun!! I love the idea of recapping the quarterly season. My soul would benefit from a monthly recap of gifts, i think.
Also I love that you live in a tiny house❤ and i am so sorry you didn’t get to even drive by to see your mother in law. Such a hard and sad time we live in. Praying for you all to see her soon.
Mariel, so great to see you through the week!!! We love our tiny house – perfect for us.
Enjoy these quarterly articles.
Always encouraging.
Thanks K.
Enjoyed this so much. So hopeful
And, #hopechangeseverything!
Love all of this.
And the cover of your book… stunning!
Watercolor on covers seems to be a thing right now?
Even more fun with September added in!
That was a real senior moment!!!! LOL
Enjoyed!!
It looked familiar, right!!!
And that li’l book………………..I loved every page and picture!
Kathy
Thanks, Kathy. I like that book too!
Wow! You had a busy quarter! Love the collages. 🙂
Ashley, thanks for visiting. Collages tend to “wrap it up” in just the right way.
I’m with you on the September whirlwind! This has been a strange year, indeed. Love seeing photos of your family ❤️ How wonderful that you get to see them often.
Blessed, indeed!
I agree! How does the time go by so fast. Great pictures and family update. I’m visiting from #TuneInTursday and the title “Quartely Report” caught my eye. I love your creative ways of doing family updates. And great pictures too!
Well, Jed, you are welcome here and thanks for the encouragement!
Lovely pictures, sounds as if you have had a very busy year! A great way to recap, enjoyed reading.
Sharon, always nice to see you here.
Wait just a cotton-pickin’ minute here. I’m glad you included September, but Susan!
When did Simon and Hannah get to be so grown up as to be parts of couples??? I am sure they were still little when we “met” through Write31Days!
These kids are all growing up so fast. REALLY glad Simon and Sky did a no-prom prom.
I know!!! Simon is 17 1/2 and Han’ almost 24!!! YIKES.
Wow, Susan. It sounds like your third quarter was busy and soul-filling! I loved reading and seeing pictures of your people!
Thanks Jeanne – my pics are nothing compared to your works of art but they will do!!!
What a busy but fun time! I don’t know how you got a book written with everything else going on. That Jacuzzi sounds wonderful. Where in SC are you? We lived in Greenville for 14 years and Spartanburg for 12. Beautiful part of the country.
Barb – THAT IS WHERE WE ARE. In Greer SC.
It sounds like you didn’t waste any time during the pandemic! Great pictures!
We tried not to!
