Elsa, the potbellied pig!
We were filled with laughter,
and we sang for joy.
And the other nations said,
“What amazing things the LORD has done for them.” Psalm 126.2
For many years I laughed but it wasn’t real. It was faked. It was one of the masks I wore…life was good, I was free. Lies I had been fed by the enemy of my soul.
I love to laugh now. I have friends who are hysterical and know how to laugh and make me laugh. One of my friends actually sticks out his tongue at me and particularly when I can’t respond to it! I laugh pretty easily these days. Sometimes I fall back into the seriousness and I forget.
Yesterday after our 30th birthday celebration at my church, a bunch (a big bunch) of us went to another friend’s home for a gathering. Now I have never been to a home where a cute little pig greeted me inside at the front door. I had never had that happen before. I didn’t know how to greet her. Do you pet a pig, ask a pig to sit, give a pig a treat? What do you do? She was a perfect little lady pig and was right in the middle of the fun! She walked around on her little high heeled hooves like a petite ballerina.
We played HEADBANDS, where you wear words on your forehead and the others give you clues and you try to guess what the word is. A silly game but what fun we had, we were all yelling, laughing and I think I was losing most of the time!
Laughter…in the midst of your mess, don’t forget to laugh. It is very good medicine and the Lord wants us to laugh, live life to the fullest. We were created for relationships and seclusion is not what He wants for us. Don’t have people in your life? Find some godly people at your church. We have life groups at my church, opportunities for service almost every Sunday, classes…we live life together and we are really family! God created us that way. We laugh together, cry together, socialize together, pray for each other, help each other. It is powerful.
Find someone today. Reach out, you are not alone in this journey and you were not created to be a loner!
Abiding in Him,
Peggy
Love this! Thank you, Peggy!!!
My sister has a wonderful group of women who meet every Thursday evening to study together, pray together, laugh and cry together. My group is Cut Ups. Women who quilt, that is cutting up perfectly good material and sewing it back together was one man’s definition. We laugh, we pray, we sew, we just love. That is church to me. Good blog. Thanks Peg.
Peggy you are an awesome woman of God. I praise God for your joy and laughter. I believe with all my heart your new friends needed you just as much as you needed them. You are truly a great blessing to all you meet. Keep laughing sista! xo
Peggy that was great. I could tell after you had been in Florida for a while you were a different person. In your writings on fb you were exploding with joy. What a blessing.
You Are so right Peggy! I love Laughter !! Hey, it sure beats crying! Or being mad! And making a person laugh is music to my ears ; )
I have always thought of my sister as one of the funniest people I know. Unfortunately, I have seen her in her saddest of times as she has seen me! So glad she’s enjoying life now in the fullest sense! XOXO
