I am blessed with a wonderful family!  On rare occasions we all get to be together in one place at one time! And, it’s not necessarily a holiday either. This summer brought such an occasion. Our granddaughter, Hannah, has spent her summers with us since she was five and one-half years old. She lives in… [Read More]

Though the fig tree does not blossom, nor fruit be on the vine. Though the labor of the olive fail and the fields yield no food. Though the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herds in the stall…Yet I will rejoice in the Lord I will joy in the God… [Read More]

the origin of my hope

March 11, 2010 by admin 22 Comments

It was a busy Thanksgiving morning, my mother-in-law, my husband and I were in the kitchen doing holiday things when the phone rang. For as long as I live I will remember that call. My dear friend’s son had been heinously murdered in West Palm Beach, FL. I ran to the building adjacent to our… [Read More]

book club

This past Saturday, the Heavenly View Book Club met for its Winter book review and lunch. What a great time we had. The day was beautiful and so appreciated as we have just come out of the worst winter in my 22-year memory here in the mountains of northwestern NC. Lunch was excellent and Spring… [Read More]

how’s it going?

February 11, 2010 by admin 2 Comments

In July 1983 I found myself in Presbyterian Hospital Charlotte NC, by the bedside of my paternal Grandma, Emily Chamberlain. Her 80-year old life was getting ready to transfer ‘within the gates’, where she would be with her Savior, and her beloved husband, who had preceded her in death ten years prior. She looked at… [Read More]

The Very First

thing that went through my mind this morning?

Don’t be so fresh.

That is what my mom would say to anyone who said something crass, off-color, or…well, FRESH!
My mom was a character – my friend calls people like my mom, “Catbirds!”
I’m not even sure where my mom’s version of fresh fits in. Any help is appreciated!

Fresh

I do like the idea of something smelling fresh.
A fresh coat of paint.
A fresh outlook.
A fresh perspective.
It is fresh on my palette (regarding taste).
Sheets hung on the clothesline smell so fresh!

Look what I found…

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; He is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him.” Psalm 92.14-15

So…

At this point, on this dreary Friday morning – I am going to go have a fresh cuppa coffee. And, I intend to remain fresh and green, bearing fruit in my old age!!!
