i think you’ve seen aslan

“…after a bit the lion took me out and dressed me — ” “Dressed you? With his paws?” “Well, I don’t exactly remember that bit. But he did somehow or other, in new clothes — the same I’ve got on now, as a matter of fact. And then suddenly I was back here. Which is… [Read More]

checklist

October 5, 2012 by admin 5 Comments

Sharpshooter is a competition shooter – throughout the year he packs up his arsenal and travels to a “Shoot”. I made him a checklist and we keep them in the kitchen and every time he begins preparing his stuff, he gets a clean form out and begins checking things off. Here’s his list: [ ]… [Read More]

Our family is going through a major upheaval. The scales of our family have become unbalanced and it is a trying time for those directly affected and for this Mom. One of my morning reads is Daily Light – Anne Graham Lotz version. It is a wonderful compilation of morning and evening scriptures, each entry relating to… [Read More]

drawing a line in the sand

September 11, 2012 by admin 12 Comments

Maybe because we are at the end of two political conventions – or maybe it is because we are dealing with some pretty big stuff in our family right now, but I am here to proclaim that I am drawing a line in the sand. Right here; right now. There are things that are right… [Read More]

don’t walk – dance!

August 22, 2012 by admin 11 Comments

It was one of those perfect summer days – I had taken the day off from work to spend with granddaughter and grandson. We had a plan and we stuck to it! First, bowling. Had a coupon and one game, with shoe rental, only cost five dollars! We were off to a good start. Then… [Read More]

feet

August 15, 2012 by admin 9 Comments

I like pretty feet.  Although I don’t have pretty feet I do try to take care of my feet – I consider them an important part of my well-being! My point is this – I am NOT obsessed by my or anyone else’s feet. So, it was kind of weird several years ago when Holy… [Read More]

they sing

August 9, 2012 by admin 8 Comments

The other night my grandson and I were walking the family dog and he found a dead cicada at the base of a big old tree. All around us we could hear the song of hundreds of cicadas – that beautiful, recognizable, cricket-like chirping.  I told my grandson about the life cycle of the insect… [Read More]

Kate said green I am entering the room reciting a Kate said green

I am entering the room reciting a poem – one of my favorite reads when my children were small. Ready?

Green eggs and ham? I do not Like them, Sam-I-am. Could you, would you, With a goat? I would not, Could not. With a goat! Would you, could you, On a boat? I could not, would not, on a boat. I will not, will not, with a goat. I will not eat them in the rain. I will not eat them on a train. Not in the dark! Not in a tree! – Dr. Seuss

What a cynical world we live in. I will never stop quoting Dr. Seuss. And, if I ever have another grandchild? They will be read the wonderful lyrics of Dr. Seuss.

Green

I happen to like the color green – for me it represents life and growth. Green grass. Green trees. Green turtles. Each filled with life. I like green. It’s my cousin’s favorite color. Her family home was full of green!

Green Hope

And, I will end my five minute essay with “MY” verse. The HOPE verse that changed me. It’s from the Message translation…

Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! Romans 15.13

What does green conjure up in you?
