our helper not our do-er

February 21, 2012 by admin 2 Comments

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever…John 14:16 (NKJV)

Those words are in red. That means God, with clothes on, said it Himself.

He will send The Helper.

Not The Do-er.

How many times have we said:

“I can’t.”

“It’s too hard.”

“I’m afraid.”

“If only.”

Folks, God isn’t going to do it for us.

But, He sent us The Helper.

We can do anything through Christ who gives us strength and sent The Helper to help us.

Anything.

Simple truth. It’s more than enough. Thank you.

Truth always goes straight to the root of why we have no victory or deliverance. If we can’t blame the One standing beside us, then the problem must lie with us. How many times He would have helped us and we would Not. Been there, done that, many times.
I never cease to be amazed, at the (out of left field) circumstances that remind me constantly of my dependency on the One He sent to Help me learn the Truth. Or the Holy Spirits’ unlimited resources that He uses to teach me a Truth. As I get older, I try to respond, look and listen to what He is saying. That the lesson might be achieved sooner with out repeats from not listening the first time. Wish I could say: I bat 1,000 but, I don’t even come close. However, being mindful that Help is only a still small voice away.
I’ll keep trying, and trust Him to get me there. When He speaks I want to LISTEN!

The Very First

thing that went through my mind this morning?

Don’t be so fresh.

That is what my mom would say to anyone who said something crass, off-color, or…well, FRESH!
My mom was a character – my friend calls people like my mom, “Catbirds!”
I’m not even sure where my mom’s version of fresh fits in. Any help is appreciated!

Fresh

I do like the idea of something smelling fresh.
A fresh coat of paint.
A fresh outlook.
A fresh perspective.
It is fresh on my palette (regarding taste).
Sheets hung on the clothesline smell so fresh!

Look what I found…

They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, 15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright; He is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him.” Psalm 92.14-15

So…

At this point, on this dreary Friday morning – I am going to go have a fresh cuppa coffee. And, I intend to remain fresh and green, bearing fruit in my old age!!!
