It has been ages since I posted any nifty household hints in the Susan’s Solutions section of my blog – so I either have to do better or do away with this section and I really don’t want to do that. Facebook is constantly streaming some new tricks in my newsfeed and when I see something which appeals to me I save it, write it down in an index card spiral book for easy reference. Today I’m going to share four simple solutions to four common household chores.
- 1 gallon HOT water
- 3/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup lemon juice (not the concentrate – juice a couple lemons right into the bucket)
Stir your solution with your mop and mop away. This works great – I’ve done it and the floor looked great. I did it on REAL wood – not sure about the synthetic looks-like-wood flooring.
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup BLUE Dawn
- 4 T baking soda
Heat vinegar in microwave; allow to cool; in a bowl mix the Dawn and baking soda then add the cooled vinegar – these ingredients will react with volcano-like eruptions! When it simmers down, put in spray bottle. Spray on your shower walls and floor, leave on for 30-60 minutes, rinse off!
- 1 T BLUE Dawn
- 3-4 T Hydrogen Peroxide
- 2 T baking solda
Mix into a paste-like substance; with a brush scrub into stains. Wash as normal.
- 1 T salt
- 1 T baking soda
- 1 T Dawn
- 1 cup water
- 1 piece of aluminum foil (cut the size of the bottom of a glass bowl)
Heat the water in microwave, pour into a glass bowl; add salt, baking soda, and Dawn dish soap. Stir. Now put your piece of aluminum foil into the solution and help it settle on the bottom. Place jewelry onto the foil. Soak 5-10 minutes. Remove and rinse. Shiny!
There you have it. I’ll post more next week!
