You know how some sermons stick with you? A word the preacher says hits home and it becomes revelation rather than just plain information.
Years ago a pastor of ours preached on “anchor points”. Those times when the Lord does something in your life that is incredibly profound or speaks a message that burns into your soul – anchor points. And, when that occurs you must write it down in order to go back years later and believe again. When I walked out of the building that particular day I began a serious effort to journal; to write down the anchor points so in the future when I would doubt or fear I would have a record of God’s promise to me.
A remembrance. Perhaps we all need our own personal “memorial day”, a day when we open our promise books, our journals, our list of 1000 gifts, and our diaries, and resurrect those promises and provisions in our lives, given to us from our Comforter and Teacher, Holy Spirit. Perhaps a time to check the rope, the line securing us to His word. God doesn’t change. (Hebrews 13.8) We are the fickle ones. “Well, He said it THEN, five years ago, but nothing has happened. It hasn’t come to pass. Maybe I heard Him wrong.”
I believe, with all my heart, that ALL the promises of God are YES and AMEN! (2 Corinthians 1.20)
What has God promised you?
Do not lose heart.
Do not give up.
Do not become disillusioned.
Do not be disappointed.
Do not doubt.
Do not fear.
The Lord’s got this. Check your ropes, your life-lines, and, if necessary re-secure them. Tie the knots tighter. And, HOLD ON!
