It’s time for my “what I learned/what I did” post for April. Because I love change and I’m craving some right now – we’re changing it up a bit. One of my favorite life-style blogs is Jones Design Company and blogger Emily does this “Currently” list every few months or so and I find it helpful and interesting and entertaining. I’m copy-catting her! You can read her’s here.
I’m giving my version a name…
L for Learning I for Inspiring S for Soul-satisfying T for Things = L.I.S.T.
Here’s my current LIST (there are a few Amazon affiliate links in here – don’t let it stress you out!) Keep reading, I have no expectations!
Each topic can be prefaced with “I am…”
Loving: the page on the calendar; early Spring mornings; and our new SNAP POWER (link is fyi only) outlet covers.
Reading: Rhythms of Rest by Shelly Miller and loving it! In the hopper is Bonnie Gray’s new book, Whispers of Rest. I see a recurring theme here!
Shopping for: A big pot of multi-colored Zinnias.
Excited about: The Lord gave me a list of book titles (to write) the other morning as I read in Shelly’s book. It was an encouraging moment.
Trying to: Live in the present, enjoy it, and be content in it. I do not want to go through another period of discontentment – fighting with all the strength I know (when I’m weak, He is strong). #womanwithsword
Working on: 52 Commands of Christ, a devotion-journal for parents and kids.
Enjoying: A good baked potato and sauteed (frozen) vegetables.
Using: Moringa supplement; my new stamina treadmill (kicks my butt every single time), and, good frozen veggies: Brussel Sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower blend.
Wearing: Anything that fits and Skechers H2 Go Water Shoe. (Great for working in yard and watering, etc.) IF you buy these? Buy one whole size smaller than you wear. Suffice it to say, I know what I’m talking about!
Planning: A few handyman tasks – out for hire!
Singing: Hillsong Worship’s What a Beautiful Name and Elevation Worship’s Resurrecting. (YouTube videos below)
Needing: Soul-peace in the present.
Learning: About true Sabbath Rest.
Listening to: Bethel Music on Pandora
Wishing for: Still water.
Doing: Cleaning out stuff, yardwork/hardwork, and washing bird poop off the porch.
Dreaming: Our 2020 Vision.
Hoping for: God will hear my heart.
DIY project: Maybe some new porch cushions.
Not crazy about: Bird poop on the porch; blogs with music; bundles (some of you know what this means, more on this next week).
Emily’s list has 17, I added a few and made it a tidy 20. Will you choose three and share in the comments? I would love to hear what your Learning Inspiring Soul-satisfying Things are!
xo
The Winner of April’s YES, LORD Sterling Silver necklace is……………..Michele Morin! There were 85 entries and #27 was the winning number at random.org THANK YOU ALL for your shares, your cares, and your comments!
This week I’ll be linking up with Inspire Me Monday, Testimony Tuesday, Tell His Story, Tea and Word, Porch Stories, Coffee for Your Heart, Tune In Thursday, Dance With Jesus, Fresh Market Friday, and Glimpses of His Beauty.
Love this list! And the acronym-perfect!
Love you!
Tammy
I “acronym-tested” all morning. LOL!!!
Susan,
I love your list! This week has not been my best with a crown, a root canal, and pending complex foot surgery next Wednesday. So I am attempting to still my soul in His word and rest in His peace. I am enjoying all the colorful birds that come to my feeder and am studying their intricacies. I am amazed at all the different colors, sizes, and shapes of flowers blooming in my garden. I am amazed at how blue the Carolina skies can be…..thank you for helping me to concentrate on His goodness over my worries!!
Blessings,
Bev xx
Bev, I’ll pray right now for all these “things” that are teaching you rest but not so Inspiring or Soul-satisfying. *SMILE*
Love your list! I have been listing to Hillsong and Highlands Worship. Love having uplifting music filling my home.
Yes, noise can be offensive but not when it is praising our King!
My word this year is “wait”, and the Lord seems to really mean it. Rain and more rain has me waiting to plant new bulbs and annuals. We’really fans of mixed impatiens. Rain has also created a shower in the garage, how soon can we get a handyman here. And finally, this may actually be a weakness of mine, not the Lord saying “wait”. I’very been purging since our son moved out last fall. Somehow, I’might much more motivated on sunny days (well, that actually goes for a lot of things). Thanks, Susan, for the gentle reminder to stop and breathe and reflect. Blessings for many more inspired learnings.
Alice, you sound like me – a sunshine lover!!!
These are great! So glad I clicked over from the Seeking God link up even though we aren’t neighbor’s this week! I just did a facebook live video about bird poop on my porch… I am loving my new Ninja blender and the awesome frothed coffee it produces for me in the mornings. Other than that, we are all able baseball here this spring…our boys have lots of practices and games going on until mid-June! Blessings!
Liz, I will most definitely click over to hear that FB LIVE!!!!
Love your list here, Susan! So good. 🙂 I’m also loving those two songs you mentioned. My husband plays “What a Beautiful Name” about 13 times a day. the past two weeks. 🙂
I’m enjoying Instagram. Since I just opened an account 2 weeks ago. And I’m SO curious about Bonnie Gray’s book. Looks wonderful, love all the graphics I’m seeing on it.
Your husband has good taste in music!!! Follow me on IG if you aren’t already and I’ll follow you!
I love your “list” acronym! I so enjoyed Rhythms of Rest when I read it. It was a book that made me realize so much more the importance of taking times of rest. And the graphics I have seen for Bonnie Gray’s new book have me interested in that one as well. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Joanne – I am messaging you …
L.I.S.T. I love it! As a lover of lists that acronym makes me like them even more. And 2020 Vision! I never thought about that and how soon it is. AWESOME!!! I’m so inspired.
Nat’ did you read my 2020 Vision post weeks back?
Hi Susan,
I too enjoy Emily’s blog so I loved your version of it — kudos! I’ve been Shelly Miller’s blog but haven’t gotten her book so I appreciated your good thoughts about it. I also appreciate your energy and zest for life that’s so evident in every post — I’m thankful for that and always enjoy my time here in your gracious space! xo
You must read SM’s book – it really is good. And, with a lot of personal stories in it, which makes it better.
Susan, I now have two ideas for more blogs this week. Thanks for the inspiration.
WOO HOO!!! You inspire me – I’ll inspire you. #sisterhoodofwriters
Love your “list” and that idea you’re working on for a devotional for parents and kids based on the commandments of Christ sounds like a great idea, Susan! Oh, and I love to listen to Bethel and so many other worship artists. Adds so much joy and thankfulness to my day! Thanks for sharing!
Beth, it’s a pleasure to share at Messy Marriage!!!
This is a great list, and I am with you on the need to make rest a priority. I am really enjoying Bonnie Gray’s book.
Lesley, I am one of those who can only read one book at a time. Bonnie’s is next!
Here’s my three-
Trying to: make my days more about my boys
Hoping for: my book edit to come back soon
Not crazy about: the massive amount of weeds in my veggie garden
Thanks for the fun L.I.S.T. !
Visiting from the #porchstories linkup.
Liz, what a great choice of three. Thanks for participating in the little drill!!!
What a great list! I have been listening to “A Beautiful Name,” and loving it. But I had forgotten about “Resurrecting” after I listened to it from a friend! I am finding that I need lots of reminders, 🙂 so thank you for sharing!
Yes ma’am. Thank YOU for reading.
Great list! Look forward to the parents book. My list: Thankful for: family and friends. Liking for: sunshine, needed rain with a beautiful rainbow. Praying for: Marlon Harris as he battles cancer. Disheartened for: the country with turmoil n unrest. Hoping for: peace on earth.

YES,LORD!
I love these personal lists and monthly posts. It’s fun to get a little glimpse into a fellow-bloggers heart!
Donna, they are my favorites also!
Fun post, Susan!
Right now family is front and center for me and my brain is so addled I don’t have an acronym, but graduation, wedding and new baby were front burner until Mum passed away — gotta walk through this and then get back on track. Love this generational sandwich!
If I lived closer I’d bring you a big lasagna.
Love the list. It’s always good to review what’s happening in our lives. Visiting via #faithonfire.
Kristi, lists are very fun and a good way to keep a record!
What a great idea! I need to be more intentional about being balanced in all that I do (I tend to bury myself in a project and let the rest of life slide :/ ).
Anita, you are too busy being adventurous to even be concerned about balance – LIVE LIFE!!! HAVE FUN! (I MEAN THIS!)
Susan – you always come up with the best Acronyms for things – love it – LIST… So, I think you should write a book about True Sabbath rest and all you learned about it so I can buy it and read it cause I definitely need to get me so true Sabbath rest. I love your 2020 vision and dreams stuff too – It’s so good to dream and plan together and dream some more… in fact I tried to talk to my hubby about our retirement plans and dreams for when we retire and he thought I was crazy cause its such a long way off… not really, but to him it is. LOL Thanks for linking up with #TuneInThursday last week. Hope to see you tomorrow too.
Yes, I’ve been called the Queen of Acronyms. I am of ROYAL BLOOD. Yes, Lord.
I love your LIST! The books you are reading, and Bonnie’s new one, are on my list. I need to find time to get to the reading. I have so many good books. Whenever I curl up with them (or my Kindle) I fall asleep. Hmmm, now what is God saying. Go to bed earlier!
Barbie, I cannot read at night – puts me right to sleep. So I try to do all my important reading first thing in the morning!
Hello Susan, I am all about systems, and this makes so much since. The idea of intentionally nourishing our souls just makes sense. Thanks and blessings from your neighbor at Anita’s.
