But, Is It?
You’ve heard the expression, right?
Someone suggests you just have to try such and such because “it’s to die for.”
Personally, I don’t like the expression because at 72 years old I want things “to live for!”
Can I get a witness!
But, Today…
I want to share something with you that just about rattled me this morning. It was in a song sung by young people on stage at church. The drums played, the guitars strummed, and the singer belted out the words…
I’m to die for – You’re to die for.
Two Thousand Years Ago
The Lord Jesus Christ looked around Him, looked into the past, looked into the future and saw me.
He saw you too.
And, He said,
They’re to die for.
He walked the road to Golgotha with His back and face and limbs shred by a beating with a cat of 9 tails whip, He laid on a crossbeam as Roman soldiers nailed His hands and feet to hard, splintered wood. He wept salty tears, which burned and stung His wounds and He didn’t utter a word in defense.
But, I know without doubt, His thought was this…
Father, they are to die for.
You were – I was
For God so loved the world He gave His One & Only Son to die on a rugged cross – so that anyone who would believe in Him would not die but have everlasting life. John 3.16
He thought we were to die for.
No one has ever loved me like that.
You?
Kindness & Hope,
Sus’ xo
Oh, Susan, I’m so sorry it had to be that way for Him, but I’m SO glad He was willing to do what He was sent to do – die for a wretched sinner like me. BUT! I’m even happier that He came back to life to give me victory! If He had stayed dead, He would have been just another human, but His resurrection proves that He truly was and IS the holy, precious Son of The Living God!
Amen! Glenda. What a blessing to call Him my Savior & Friend!
Oh Sus’! What an amazing miracle that He loved us – loves us still – so!!!
We were “to die for” and He is “to live for.”
it’s something that I have in hand,
more and more and more and more,
that I will fall right where I stand,
’cause this life is worth dying for.
Sure, ain’t perfect, no land is,
but there’s strength still in our soil,
and though some think that it’s their biz
to cook up hatred to a boil,
it’s love I’ll use to counter that,
and let the other cheek be turned
to lay their silly hatred flat,
for in my days this I have learned
that as I kneel ‘fore killing wall
is when at last I stand most tall.
I think this could be a favorite!
Love this, Andrew!
Such a poet!
We are so blessed to have our Savior!
So, so blessed.
No one has ever loved us more than Jesus does. Thank you for this reminder, Susan. Blessings to you! xo
No one!
“To die for,” is not an expression I’ve used much, but when you look at it the way you just wrote, it makes me thankful He thought we were worth dying for.
I’m not crazy about the expression either!
I don’t usually like the phrase “to die for” but it is amazing to think that is how Jesus sees us!
Exactly!
