In July 1983 I found myself in Presbyterian Hospital Charlotte NC, by the bedside of my paternal Grandma, Emily Chamberlain. Her 80-year old life was getting ready to transfer ‘within the gates’, where she would be with her Savior, and her beloved husband, who had preceded her in death ten years prior.
She looked at me and said, “When I am gone, who is going to pray for my little ones?” To which I replied, “I will, Grandma.” And, then, the painful truth…
“Susan sweetheart, you can’t pray for my babies – you live with a man who isn’t your husband, how can the Lord even hear your prayers when you have un-confessed sin in your life?”
THAT DAY began a conviction that burned in my soul. I did not go away and change everything instantly, but I began the journey back to Christ and His rich grace. What if my Grandma hadn’t been bold enough to speak truth to me that day? Would I still be miles away from living in the daily joy of sweet relationship with Jesus Christ? I wasn’t too happy to hear those words over 25 years ago, but I will tell you this, they were the words that brought unparallel change into my life.
So, today I ask YOU…how’s it going spiritually for you? Is your relationship with the Lord where it could be? Are you trusting Him with your daily needs and wants? Are you living in the abundance of His grace and mercy? If you answer “yes” I am so delighted for you. But if you answer “no” I bring you the greatest news of all time…HE MISSES YOU & LONGS FOR YOU TO VISIT WITH HIM AGAIN! It doesn’t matter if, while you’ve been gone, junk got in your world – He longs for your company and He loves you with an everlasting love. What better gift could anyone receive on this “weekend of love”?
Embrace His gift – it costs nothing and it’s the gift that truly keeps giving! Day, after day, after day.
