Glad to be HOME!
When I told the guys at work I was going on vacay I told them we’d be gone 18 days, 2 work weeks plus weekends. We made it ten days.
Not because we were having a bad time – we were having an excellent time away. We were ready to come home.
HOME
In all reality, we have two homes. One is 399 square feet and one is 84 square feet! Gracee is an awesome and comforting home away from home. We close her door and we are in a lovely, cozy space. Not a lot of walk-around room but as long as neither of us get one ounce larger, we can both fit and move around at the same time!
Hubs treats me like a Queen when we camp. He makes the coffee and takes care of all the hook-ups. On days we want it, he makes breakfast. I do all the straightening up, wiping down, making beds and hanging towels – we have a good working system.
Coming Home
Several weeks ago, we watched the first season of THE CHOSEN – we enjoyed it immensely. Some of the scenes, which are the most poignant are when Simon Peter goes “home” to see his wife. The series is incredibly well done – Peter’s wife and he always have a tender moment and one can see the joy he has at being “home.”
When we pulled into our driveway last night at 11:45 p.m. the contentment washed over me. Hubs opened the front door and said,
“It’s nice and cozy in here.”
He was referring to the temperature; however, in 20 minutes we were under the covers of our bed and I thought,
“There is nowhere else I’d rather be.”
Heaven
Can we even remotely envision what heaven will be like? I would imagine the very moment we get there it will be an immediate sense of belonging and the desire to never be anywhere else. Home, at last.
Abraham was looking for a city which will last for ever. It was the city God planned and made…Hebrews 11.10
I can only imagine!
This little diddy is ready:
Lovely story of travel and home. I could visually see your words as pictures. Have a good end of the week at home!
Hi Jen! Glad you enjoyed it. We are tired but always glad we get “home.”
Oh, I didn’t see that coming, but I should have! YES!! Tears flowing as I think about Heaven and coming home, belonging in the best way possible. I loved seeing your updates while you were traveling.
Bettie, how can a Jesus-follower write about HOME without mentioning HEAVEN!!!!
Sweet!! Exactly why I’m not a good traveler!
XO
I guess I’m both. A good road tripper and definitely a good nester!
Welcome Home!
Thanks Ali and by the way, we have deduced all our electric issues were a bad hookup because we had zero problems after that place!
No place like home! And no place like HOME! As I read this my mind turned to song (as usual) and “Going Home” is now playing over and over in my head.
I believe YOU recorded that song, right?
Welcome home, Susan! There’s no place like it. 🙂 I love your camping arrangement with your hubs. It sounds like a delightful time. We tent camp a couple of times of the year with our family and extended family. I keep talking about getting an RV but I doubt that will ever happen. Mine would have to be vintage—like a Scotty or something small.
Tweeted.
Thank you for linking up at InstaEncouragements!
Patsy, there are so many cute vintage campers out there!!! One more thing for that big garage?
Glad you are enjoying the comfort of the “tiny house” again. Always say it’s good to get away but always nice to be back home in a “comfort zone too!” Heaven: a glorious place we know we will one day vision in person. Have a nice “rest of the week.”
O! What a day that will be!
I can’t wait to settle in to my heavenly home!
Barb, our excursions will be over. No looking back!
Won’t it be grand!
I feel the same way. It’s fun to have an excursion every now and then, but there is no place I’d rather be than home. And when we get to heaven, we won’t need or want any excursions.
What a wonderful story, Susan. I just walked in the door, started a load of wash, and put my feet up after being away for 12 days. We were visiting my sister in Florida. Traveling was nice and we had an excellent visit but it feels so good to be HOME!
Florida, you say? Where? We were there also, near Ocala!!!
