That’s me! The Lord has shown me so much mercy in my life I feel like my nickname should be second-chance Sus’. Over and over again, He has picked me up out the mire, dusted me off, and set me back on my feet.
God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
His merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
How great Your faithfulness!
I’m sticking with God (I say it over and over).
He’s all I’ve got left. Lamentations 3.23-24 (MSG)
I love The Message for Bible translating but I do take a tad of an issue with, “He’s all I’ve got left.” It makes it sound like God is his last resort when in all reality (for me), He’s my sole/soul resort. It is similar to people saying, “All we can do is pray.” WHAT? Prayer is everything we can do!!!
The file never showed up
Last week I was lamenting over my lost file – it never re-appeared. I sulked for two days. Stubborn woman I am. But on the third day (it’s always on the third day, amen?) I took the plunge and started over. I feel good about the work in process now – I believe I was moving too fast the first time and I needed to step away, rethink, and slow down.
Scripture is filled with do-overs
Off the top of my head I can think of several. Abraham & Isaac at the altar of sacrifice. Moses after 40 years in the desert and then the great exodus. Rahab, prostitute and then a direct line in the lineage of Messiah! Ruth, first husband died and then Boaz and, again, in the lineage of Jesus!
Over and over again we hear about second chances being the life-saving event of one’s life.
Never lose hope
I’ve been known to say this a few times, “As long as there is breath, there is hope.”
Maybe you are lamenting something today. A failure. A lost love. A disappointment. A doctor’s report.
There is hope – call out to The One who already knows and cares more than our human minds can even remotely comprehend – He can restore lost files, broken hearts, disappointments, turn ashes of failure into flames of success!
Never, I repeat, NEVER, forget this. It is our Hope in Him that brings the glory and circumstances change!
